Chapter 40

It's only minutes as you both already reach the lisha area. You landed on the ground as you looked around for any suspicious things that might have been surrounding the area.

Though one thing you forgot that you were still holding shenhe in your arms as you just realized it now as you were about to put her down when you noticed her examining your arm.

She was too focused, wondering how you can carry her just like that without having any problems. It's like you're just carrying a little child judging by how you are not bothered by even one bit.

Well it's expected since you are an adepti and your strength is different from people in liyue though she can't help but be more curious about you.

Out of her consciousness, she suddenly slid her hand on your arm examining the muscles which made you confused at the sudden touch.

".. I've never seen an adepti not to mention a woman whose body is well built..."

"So you can tell just by touching my arm?"

You said before putting her down finally as she then let go of you as she looked around the area.

"I don't see any sunset vermillionite but I can sense it.."

You said while looking around the area while shenhe then moved forward and did something that changed your surroundings.

"This place was hidden using a special adepti art, but now that I have removed it. We can inspect the area more closely"

"Hmm~ not bad for cloud retainer's disciple"

"Thank you"

You looked around the place again only for a seele to appear out of nowhere and started circling around you.

You watched the seele circled around you while shenhe watched it as well before the seele then started going forward but stopped midway indicating for you two to follow it.

"It seems we have a little company for the sunset vermillionite"

You mumbled before following the seele and shenhe just followed behind you while the seele took you under the water falls.

You notice there's a way inside as the seele went there which you of course didn't hesitate to go inside as well followed by shenhe behind you.

Once you went inside, you were met with a different place. Seeing clouds on the ground similar to morax's abode.

You can sense the sunset vermillionite more when you came in this abode as you saw the seele again as it went beneath the clouds.

You were about to follow it when shenhe suddenly stopped you and spoke.

"I sense the presence of monsters I'm this place, I don't know where they are hiding so we'd better be careful"

She warned which only made you looked at her for a short while before looking around the place, no sight of monster as they are indeed hiding since you can already sense it as well.

"If we want to go beneath this clouds then we must destroy the mechanism"

"I very well know how an adepti's abode work"

You replied back before going to destroy the first mechanism which suddenly monsters appeared and surrounded you both only for you to just sigh while shenhe summon her polearm.

It was just a bunch of pyro slimes small one to be precise.

You use cryo on them but only melted the ice to which you just sigh and summon your sword.

"Maybe next time I'll try to obtain hydro"

You mumbled as shenhe already went to take the other pyro slimes while you went to take out the remaining pyro slimes.

It's only a matter of time before you took care of the first mechanism and then went to the 2nd one which is a bunch of hilichurls and these are just pretty easy to the both of you as you took care of it in just seconds before coming to the last mechanisms and finally activate the adepti's Barrier.

"Guess,only thing that is left is to destroy the abode's adepti barrier"

You said as you both went to the middle and was about to destroy it only for a bunch of monsters to appear.

"It appears that we've been taken for intruders..this time, why not allow me to take care of this"

She said and went to take out the monster while you just watched her, impressed by her as you were proud to cloud retainer.

Just then the core of the mechanism appeared which is the sign for you to destroy it but then tons of monsters blocked it while you just sigh and only stomp your foot on the ground summoning geo spikes towards the core as well as the monsters blocking it as they were scattered everywhere and the core breaks in just a mere second.

Suddenly the barrier disappeared as well as the fog while you and shenhe suddenly fell down beneath. You use electro and went to catch shenhe as you landed safely but again was surrounded by monsters.

You only sigh again while putting down shenhe. The monsters started charging at both of you only for you to swing your hand and summon an anemo slash making them fly away and as well destroy the mechanism.

Just then a ruin guard suddenly woke up and went Infront of you both as you were ready to take it but the Barrier got destroyed as you fell down deep in the adepti's abode but you use electro as well and catch shenhe as you landed safely even though there's a water.

You both went further on the adepti's abode and saw another core of the mechanism with monsters guarding it as usual while both of you took care of it.

After taking care of it you were about to destroy the mechanism when a ruin guard appeared.

"And here I thought you broke after falling down with us back there"

You said summoning your sword but then another ruin guard appeared behind you both as shenhe summoned her polearm going behind you facing the other ruin guard.

"I can tell the sunset vermillionite is important for you to guard but it's more important to that person I'm giving it for"

You said to the ruin guard.

"So how about this, I get the sunset vermillionite and I might spare your life"

Shenhe then sighs upon hearing those.

"You can't negotiate with a ruin guard"

"I thought robots were smart..."

You mumbled before the two of you took care of the two ruin guards in just minutes and finally destroyed the last mechanisms.

Just then you saw the seele again to which you both followed it and it's only a matter of time before it finally leads you to the sunset vermillionite.

"As expected it's huge...well to even carry the jade chamber of course it would be.."

You mumbled to yourself.

"It's a relief it's not activated because it's not floating though activating it will be more easy for it to get it out but it would be already going up to the sky so we might as well lift it"

"Then I shall lift the sunset vermillionite"

Shenhe insisted on which made you look at her.

"I know you have an adepti strength but are you sure?"

"Do not worry as I have experience of carrying such an amount of rocks"
