A/N: If you haven't looked at the last two parts, this story deals with domestic abuse and self-harm. Please skip if either of these topics are triggers. I've also included the songs mentioned in this part at the very end of the story if you're interested in listening to them. They're just a few of my favorite forties songs.
The dirt path beneath your feet and the sound of animals frolicking in the forest were the only things helping to calm your on edge nerves. Tonight was your date with Bucky and, while a part of you was excited, a bigger part was apprehensive. That's why you found yourself taking a walk through the woods around the compound when the sun had barely risen above the horizon. Bucky had spent the last two weeks planning your date. You had asked him a few times what he was planning so you knew what to wear, but he wouldn't spill a single detail. The only reassurance he gave you was that everything down to your outfit was taken care of.
You returned to the compound an hour after the sun rose. A few agents were already milling around on their way to the training room or to grab coffee before starting their day. Deciding to follow their lead, you walked up to the living quarters and entered the common room kitchen to grab coffee. Steve, Bucky, and Sam were sitting at the table in workout clothes with cups of coffee in front of them. The moment Bucky saw you, he shushed the other two men and then smiled widely at you.
"Hey, doll." Bucky gave you a small wave.
"Bucky." You said slowly. "What are you up to?"
"Nothing. We were just talking about a training that Fury wants us to do."
"Mhm, sure you were."
You crossed your arms and leaned back against the counter. Your eyes moved between Sam and Steve, neither of whom would look at you.
"Boys, anything you want to add?" You asked.
"Damn, look at the time. We need to get to the track, Cap." Sam said as stood up, ignoring your question.
Steve nodded quickly and followed Sam's lead.
"Sam." You said firmly.
"Sorry, gotta run."
Sam hurried out of the kitchen with Steve hot on his heels.
"They know what you're planning for the date."
"Are you asking, doll?" Bucky smirked.
"Nope, I'm stating a fact."
"I needed a little help getting everything together."
"So they can know, but I can't get one little hint?" You said in an almost whiny tone.
"Y/n, you'll find out tonight. It's called a surprise for a reason."
Bucky got up from the table and came to stand in front of you. He gently unfolded your arms and took your hands in his.
"I promise it'll be a night to remember, you just have to trust me."
"I do trust you, Bucky. You know that, besides Uncle Tony, you're the only person I trust completely."
"Then trust me on this. I want to see your genuine reaction, so no hints."
Your mouth turned down into a frown before you finally relented.
"Ugh, fine."
"Thanks, doll. Now, there's a pre-date surprise in your room, so better hurry up and see what it is."
Bucky turned you around and swatted your ass playfully. You yelped in surprise, but you couldn't be mad at him. It didn't hurt and playful Bucky was your favorite type of Bucky. You heard him chuckle behind you as you left the kitchen and headed towards your room. By the time you were outside your door, most of your anxiety had been replaced with excitement. Whatever Bucky planned had him giddy and it was contagious. You opened your bedroom door and saw Nat, Wanda, and your Aunt Pepper sitting around your room talking.
