You and Bucky were just friends...at least that's what the others thought. In reality, you had been dating for the last three months. You mastered the art of sneaking around. Bucky sneaking into your room every night was easy, but actually getting out of the compound to go on dates was a different story. Someone was always questioning where you were going or asking to tag along. There had been more than one cancelled date because one of you couldn't come up with an excuse as to why you wanted to go out alone.
Tonight was no different. You were waiting at the bar when Bucky walked in, followed by Sam and Steve. You sighed in frustration as you ducked your head and faded into the crowd. Apparently you didn't blend in well enough though, because Sam spotted you and called you over.
"Hey, pretty lady. What are you doing here all dressed up?" Sam asked as you took a seat at the table and eyed the dark grey dress you had on.
Bucky shot you an apologetic look and you subtly shrugged your shoulders.
"Uhh, I was supposed to meet my date here, but I guess he bailed on me."
"Sounds like an idiot for standing you up." Steve said with a small blush.
"Yeah, you're way too good for a guy like that." Sam winked at you. "Why don't you let me take you out instead."
"Hey! What about me? I've known Y/n the longest." Steve protested.
Bucky scowled as he watched the two men fight over who should be able to take you on a date. He knew they both had small crushes on you and, even though you told him you'd always choose him, it did nothing to crush his jealousy. You looked over at him and grabbed his hand under the table, giving it a tight squeeze. He squeezed your hand back, but the scowl still remained.
"We can play rock, paper, scissors. Whoever wins gets to take Y/n out." Sam reasoned.
"Guys, I think you're forgetting that I have to agree to that and, sorry, but neither or you are my type." You chimed in.
"What? I'm everyone's type." Sam said, offended.
"Not everyone's." You smirked.
"So what is your type?" Steve asked.
"Tall, dark, handsome, kinda broody, but sweet and caring when we're alone. Oh, and willing to knock anyone out who looks at me the wrong way."
"You basically described Bucky. You know that right?" Sam said with an arched eyebrow.
"Did I? Huh, that's interesting." You said with a smirk. "I'm gonna head back to the tower. Enjoy your night, boys."
You waved as you walked away, purposefully letting your hips swish because you knew Bucky would be watching. When you were gone, Sam slapped Bucky across the chest.
"Ow! What the fuck?"
"Dude! Are you fucking stupid? Y/n likes you. Why aren't you going after her?" Sam pointed animatedly towards the door.
"We're just friends, Sam. She jokes like that all the time." Bucky was trying to be nonchalant, but he was fighting the instinct to follow after you and take you straight back to his room.
"Doesn't seem like she wants to be just your friend, Buck." Steve added.
"What, with handsome guys like you two around, you think she'd choose me?" Bucky said, knowing full well that you would, in fact, choose him.
"Uhh, yeah! Of course she'd choose you. Women don't say things like that unless they want you. Y/n wants you, man." Sam snorted.
"Sure, Buddy." Bucky smacked his hand down on Sam's shoulder and went to get their first round.
