Thanos stood in front of you. His hand was raised and in position to snap. You raced towards him, pushing off the ground and using your powers to propel you towards him. Panic coursed through you as he brought his fingers together. You were still so far away. He snapped and disappeared. You fell to the ground, hitting your knees as you stared at the spot he had just stood. But then you heard them.

You heard screams and cries of agony. Your head twisted to look around at the people fighting by your side. Your eyes locked on Dustin as he began disappearing, turning to ash in front of your eyes. You screamed and pushed yourself up to run to him, but by the time you reached him there was nothing but a pile of dust. You pressed your fingers into the ash as tears and anguished screams ripped from you.

You scanned the area and saw that there were others who were fading away as well. Eddie walked towards you as his hands began to fade. You stood and grabbed onto his face.

"Eddie, no!"

He smiled at you and then he was gone. You heard Lucas yelling for Erica and Steve crying out for Robin and you. El and Will were searching for Mike and Max. Steve and Tony stood watching the carnage as their friends disappeared. Their hard stares turned on you and you shrunk away from them. Strange was a few feet from you and he turned look at you.

"You failed." He disintegrated as the wind carried away the small particles that were left of him.

You felt yourself grow lighter as you stood realizing that you failed. Looking down at your arms, you saw that you were disappearing just like the others. Bucky came into focus and you saw the horrified look on his face. He caught you as you fell to the ground.

"Doll! No, no! I've got you, princess. Y/n don't leave me. Please." His desperate voice was the last thing you heard as you faded away.

Your heart pounded as you jolted awake. It was still dark in Bucky's room and his soft breathing was the only sound you could hear.

It was a dream. Just a dream.

You rubbed your forehead and took a deep, shaky breath. Clutching the sheet to your chest, you laid back down and stared up at the ceiling. The pressure you felt to succeed was suffocating. Strange explained to you what would happen if Thanos wasn't stopped. You didn't know if you or your friends would disappear since you technically weren't from this world, but it didn't calm your raging fear.

You looked over at Bucky. His long hair was splayed over his pillow and his lips were slightly parted. You brushed a strand of hair from his face, admiring how peaceful he looked. Even if you couldn't be snapped from existence, you wouldn't take the chance of that happening to Bucky or anyone else in this world. Your fingers ran down Bucky's cheek and he began to wake.

"What are you doing awake, princess?" Bucky mumbled and hooked his arm around your waist.

He turned on his back and pulled you into his side. His hand grabbed yours and brought it to rest on his chest, directly over his heart.

"I had a nightmare." You whispered.

Bucky pulled you tighter to him and squeezed your hand.

"Wanna talk about it?"

"I-I failed and Thanos won." You choked out.

Bucky felt your tears fall onto his skin and his heart broke for you. From the beginning, Strange hadn't made it a secret that the battle couldn't be won without you and Bucky couldn't imagine the emotional toll that was taking on you. He pulled you on top of him so you were face to face, settling your legs on either side of him and rubbing your back while placing small kisses on your cheeks and lips.
