Bucky walked you into his house with his hand resting on the small of your back. Steve and Sam were already taking your bags to the room that Bucky had chosen as yours...which was conveniently right across from his. Stepping through the front door, your mouth fell open. Maybe house wasn't the right word to describe where he lived. Mansion actually seemed more fitting. The house was a modern structure, but also had a comfortable, homey feel to it.

Bucky walked you through the foyer and into the living room. A large, black leather couch and loveseat sat in the middle of the room facing a granite fireplace with a flat screen TV mounted on the wall above the fireplace. The living room opened into the spacious kitchen and attached dining room. The back wall of the living room had big panels of glass spread along the length of the wall. It took you a moment to realize that, what you thought were just windows, were actually doors that slid open to a well lit, covered stone patio with an entertaining area and inground pool. You hadn't even seen the rest of the house, but you knew that each room would be dripping in the same luxuriousness.

His house was expensive and flashy. It was abundantly clear that Bucky wasn't afraid to flaunt his wealth. You were sure that your entire yearly paycheck wouldn't even cover a quarter of what he had paid for just the furniture in his house. Extravagance wasn't a concept you were used to, so seeing all of the pricey items in his house had you stuffing your hands into the pocket of the sweatshirt you had slipped on during the car ride over. It was the safest way to keep yourself from accidentally bumping into something and breaking it. You didn't want to owe him more than your father already did.

"Make yourself comfortable, little sparrow. I'll grab you a drink. I'm sure you could use it after the night you've had."

Bucky left you standing in the middle of the living room as he walked to the kitchen. You looked at the immaculate couch and decided that you would just perch on the edge of the pillow, scared that you'd somehow mess it up if you were fully seated. Bucky returned a few minutes later with two glasses filled with an amber liquid. He had discarded his tie and unbuttoned the top few buttons of his black dress shirt, giving you a view of the tattoos swirling around his neck. You licked your lips as you wondered just how much of his body was covered in ink. He was attractive and you could only assume that what lay hidden beneath the dark suit covering his body was just as droolworthy.

Your head shook involuntarily as the thought popped into your head. This man was the head of the most powerful mob family in New York, possibly the entire United States, and he had essentially kidnapped you. Those weren't the types of thoughts you needed to be having right now. What you should be doing is focusing on how to survive the mess your father had gotten you into. So far, your plan only consisted of keeping your head down and doing your best to make sure his finances were in order and the money he laundered through his legitimate businesses couldn't be traced back to the illegitimate ones.

Bucky passed you a glass and took a seat next to you. He took a sip of his drink and watched you with assessing eyes as you swirled the liquid in the glass. When your father had offered you in his place, Bucky had honestly considered shooting him in the head right then. He couldn't fathom that a father would put his own daughter in danger just because he was afraid to die. Family was important to Bucky. As he saw it, he was doing you a favor by taking you away from your father.

What shocked him even more than your father offering you up as a sacrificial lamb, was the fact that you accepted the deal with little resistance. He had a certain respect for you, which could explain why he had given you so many chances when it had come to your sass. Underneath the pretty packaging, you had a commanding presence that he admired. Bucky wasn't normally one for mixing business with pleasure, but he found himself considering the possibility that your deal could include a little something...extra.
