"Y/n!" Becca wrapped her arms around you in a tight hug as you walked into the Barnes house.
It was the first time you had been over for Sunday dinner since the night you found the engagement ring on your car. In fact, since you had begun staying with Bucky, you barely went anywhere other than work. You were lucky that Bucky hadn't locked you in his house and thrown away the key after you were attacked. It had taken you begging and pleading for him to even agree to come to Sunday dinner. His parents and Becca had been asking for weeks, but Bucky always refused.
You hadn't seen Becca in two months thanks to Bucky's over protectiveness, and this was the longest you had gone without seeing her. Having her hug you so enthusiastically made you forget for a brief moment that you were on the hit list of a serial killer. When Becca's mom and dad appeared behind her with big smiles on their faces and a warm hello, you almost cried. It was so normal and it was a feeling you had been longing for since this whole ordeal began. Becca pulled Bucky into a tight hug while their mom and dad pulled you in for a hug of their own. Becca linked her arm with yours and guided you to the couch while Bucky joined his parents in the kitchen.
"I've missed you Becs. Your brother has basically taken me hostage."
"Like you mind." Becca chuckled and winked at you.
"W-what do you mean by that?"
You hadn't told her what had been going on between you and Bucky. Honestly, you didn't know exactly what was going on either. Neither of you had really talked about your relationship. You knew he had feelings for you and you had slept with him, but that didn't mean you were together.
"Oh come on, Y/n/n. As your best friend, do you really think that I'm oblivious to the crush you have on him? I knew you liked him before you knew you liked him." A huge grin spread across her face as she looked at you.
"And I thought I hid it so well." You stifled a laugh.
"Don't worry, your secret is safe with me. You should make a move though. He likes you, too. Who knows, if things work out between the two of you then you could end up as my sister-in-law."
"You've really put some thought into this, Becs."
"Of course I have! What could be better than having your best friend marry your brother. I already know that we get along and Bucky would be happy. It's a win-win."
"What's making me happy?" Bucky asked, walking over to the couch and handing you a beer.
He took a seat next to you as embarrassment flooded your body and your cheeks heated. You hadn't even had a proper talk with him to know where you stood and Becca was talking about marriage. You widen your eyes at Becca, trying to silently communicate for her to keep her mouth shut.
"Y/n. You just seem more pleasant today than usual and the only thing that seems to be different is that she is living with you now."
"I'm not living with Bucky. I'm just staying with him until it's safe for me to go back home."
"Same thing." Becca waved her hand in front of her face, dismissing your words.
"Becca! Can you come help me for a moment, sweetie?" Mrs. Barnes yelled from the kitchen.
"Coming, Ma!" Becca yelled and then turned her attention back to you as she stood up. "Still think you're the reason."
Once Becca disappeared, Bucky leaned in and gave you a quick kiss on the cheek.
"She's right. I am happier and it is because of you." Bucky murmured. "It may not have been the best circumstances that brought us together, but I'm glad I've had this time with you."
