The sun was high in the sky as you walked up to the door of the station. The scent of sunscreen and salt filled your nostrils and you took one look back at the sparkling ocean before heading inside to start the first day of your new job as a lifeguard. Your bag containing your uniform was slung over your shoulder as you tugged on your t-shirt to make sure you looked presentable for your supervisor. A beautiful red-head in a tight red bathing suit was standing next to the front desk speaking to a dark haired man when you approached.
"Hi, I'm Y/n."
"Hey! Yeah, the new girl. I'm Natasha, but you can call me Nat. This is Bruce, our station manager. He makes sure that everything runs smoothly. You're supposed to be meeting Steve, right?"
"Yeah. I think I'm a tad bit early though. I don't mind waiting if he's busy." You said nervously.
"Steve is rarely busy. Perks of being a supervisor...he gets everyone else to do the work." She joked. "Come on, I'll take you to his office."
Nat linked her arm with yours and led you towards the back of the building, pointing out what each room was used for. She showed you the small kitchen area and where the locker rooms were before finally reaching Steve's office. She knocked and waited with you for Steve to answer. A tall blonde in red shorts and a white tank top answered the door, his deep blue eyes shining when he smiled at you.
"New blood, Steve. See you later, Y/n." Nat said with a smile, pushing you forward and then walking away.
"I see you've met Nat." Steve chuckled and held his hand out for you to shake.
"Uh, yeah. She's friendly." You said looking over your shoulder as she walked away.
"Well, come in and have a seat. I have some paperwork for you to do and then I can show you around, get you set up, and let you meet your trainer."
You followed Steve into his office and took a seat across from his desk. He handed you a stack of papers and you got to work filling them out. You were on the final form when Steve's office door burst open and a tall brunette with gorgeous blue eyes and abs for days walked in. Dark stubble covered his sharp jawline and a sleeve of tattoos stretched from his wrist up to the shoulder of his left arm.
"Steve! Why are you pairing me up with Sam? You know how much he gets on my nerves." The man huffed.
"He was the only option I had, Bucky. Tony and Peter are inseparable, Loki can't tolerate anyone besides Thor, Clint and Nat work so well together that it doesn't make sense to split them up, and Wanda and Vision refuse to work with anyone other than each other when they're on the same shift."
"Fuck." Bucky mumbled.
You sat quietly in the chair, finishing up the last of your paperwork, as the two bickered back and forth about the pairings Steve had made. Placing the papers on the edge of the desk, you picked at the strap on your bag until you heard your name mentioned. You lifted your gaze to look at Steve, whose eyes settled on you for a moment before shifting back to Bucky.
"I do have some good news though. You won't be alone with Sam today, at least." Steve gestured to you as he continued. "This is our newest lifeguard, Y/n. I'm setting you up as her trainer during her probationary period. You can just ignore Sam and focus on Y/n."
As if he had just noticed you, his head swiveled to look at you. His frustrated scowl slipped from his face and a confident, sexy smirk replaced it. His eyes swept over you and he licked his lips. You felt your cheeks flush and your stomach flutter under his gaze. You gave him a small smile and pushed a strand of hair behind your ear that had fallen from your bun.
"Bucky, no!" Steve said sternly.
You looked over at Steve, confused at his reaction.
"What?!" Bucky swung his head to look at Steve with wide eyes.
