You were lying on the bed in Bucky's apartment waiting for him to get out of the shower. Everyone who had stuck around after the battle was being housed at the old Avengers tower, but Bucky had insisted you stay with him so he could keep an eye on you. It had been a week since you defeated Thanos and Tony was refusing to let you go home until he was absolutely certain that you were okay. Since your powers were similar to the mind stone, your body was able to handle the power of the snap and you were pretty much completely healed. Tony cleared you late in the evening and you would be heading home in the morning.
You should've been happy and excited to head back to your world, but you weren't. After you woke up and Tony allowed you to leave the cradle, Bucky took you to dinner and then back to his apartment to talk. Dinner flowed with easy conversation and it felt more like you were catching up with an old friend than eating dinner with a man you hardly knew. Your mind was still reeling from what happened when you arrived at Bucky's apartment, but all it did was make your decision harder.

"Princess, there are some things we need to talk about and I'm not really sure where to start or how to explain it. I think–I think it would be easier if you look into my mind." He looked at you nervously.
"Bucky...I don't want to–I don't want to see anything you don't want me to." You stammered, remembering the last time you were in his head and how his memories pushed into your mind even though you tried to keep them out.
"I want you to see everything, doll. I want you to know the good and the bad."
Bucky grabbed your hands and placed them on his cheeks, rubbing his thumbs over the backs of your hands.
"It's okay." He whispered.
You stared at him for a moment before taking a deep breath and closing your eyes. You focused on your breathing and felt yourself enter Bucky's mind. The first memory you came across was fuzzy, but you could feel his fear and pain from when he was first found by Hydra and he was given his metal arm. The next few memories were of him being conditioned with his code words and having his memory wiped repeatedly. You saw him being trained and then sent on missions to torture and kill people. Tears slipped down your face as you realized two of those people were Tony's parents. His memories flitted through your mind as if you were watching a movie. Him meeting Steve again, being rescued, de-conditioned in Wakanda, the first battle with Thanos, his regret and self-hatred, and finally his meeting with you.
You saw yourself through his eyes. He turned to face you on the field and, even though he was pissed you had hit him with a chair, you felt the way his heart stuttered as his eyes first fell on you. Then you felt him bury the feeling and replace it with anger. His mind filtered through every moment with you, but he focused on how much he regretted pushing you away and how he felt when you weren't around him. You felt his heart break as he watched you fall to the ground after the snap. He thought he had lost you, but the heart-break faded into happiness and relief when he realized you were awake.
The next memory was of Strange's explanation of why you and Bucky felt so drawn to each other. You were both one half of a whole and you could feel the truth in Strange's words as he spoke. Bucky let you see one final memory. It wasn't actually a memory, per say, it was more of a resolution. He was going to ask you to stay with him. Bucky wanted you to leave everything important in your life behind and stay in a world that was as foreign to you as yours would be to him. When the last memory ended, you pulled your hands from his face and let them fall into your lap.
Bucky opened his eyes slowly, apprehension clear on his face. He felt his heart sink when he saw your face. Tears were streaming down your cheeks and your body was rigid as you stared at him. He frowned and stood from the bed, turning his back to you. He spoke softly and avoided looking at you.
