October was your favorite time of year. Halloween, the scary movies, haunted houses, and things that went bump in the night. You especially like the parties–except the one you were currently at. Your best friend, Sam, decided to host a party at the new house he had just purchased. Flames were blazing in the fire pit, there were plenty of drinks, and music was blaring across the speakers. It wasn't the party you didn't like. The party was actually great. It was more the company that was getting on your nerves. Well, one in particular.
Bucky Barnes was the object of your affection, but it seemed that he was completely oblivious to you. The two of you met at a gathering that Sam had a few years back and you were smitten from the start. You spent your whole night talking and laughing with Bucky. Admiring his vivid blue eyes and wanting to run your hands through his thick, short locks. But when the night ended, he gave you a hug and said goodbye then left without another word. After that night, anytime you and Bucky were in the same room, it was as if you were invisible.
You sat on the back patio watching Bucky laugh with Steve while two women you'd never met flirted with the pair. Natasha sauntered over and sat next to you, watching as you sipped your drink and stared intently at Bucky. You hadn't even noticed that she had been sitting next to you for the last five minutes. She chuckled at how oblivious you were and then spoke.
"Why don't you just go talk to him?"
"Holy shit!" You jumped and almost spilled your drink. "Don't sneak up on me like that, Nat."
"I've been sitting here for five minutes, Y/n. You were just too busy glaring at Bucky to notice me."
"I was not glaring!" You protested.
"Yeah, and that blonde doesn't wanna suck his dick." Nat countered.
You looked back over to the blonde who was talking to Bucky and noticed that she had cozied up to his side and was pressing her chest against him. Your frown deepened and your forehead creased. Her giggles floated across the yard and you cringed. It sounded like nails on a chalkboard. Honestly, if you were a guy, the sound would make your balls crawl back inside you and cower in fear.
"Ugh, what does he see in her anyway?" You turned back to Nat.
"I'll give you two guesses." Nat motioned to her chest.
"Guys are disgusting." You sneered.
Wanda came over and fell on the couch next to you, tossing her arm around your shoulders and sighing. She followed your gaze and saw that it was directed right at Bucky...like usual.
"Bucky still ignoring you?" She asked looking across the yard at him.
"What do you think?" You grumbled.
"Just talk to him, you pussy!" Nat said exasperated.
"Tell ya what, Natty. The day you talk to Steve about your feelings and Wanda talks to Sam about hers, I'll pull Bucky into a big kiss and tell him that I like him. Sound like a plan?"
"You are not turning this around on us." Wanda chastised you.
"Y/n, how is he supposed to know how you feel if you don't tell him?" Nat asked.
"We had one conversation, albeit it was the deepest connection I've ever felt with someone, but he's acted like I don't even exist since that night. And we've been around each other tons of times since then. If he was interested, he would've approached me."
"She doesn't see it." Wanda said, leaning around you and looking at Nat.
"Nope."
"See what? What am I missing?" You asked, eyes wandering back to Bucky.
