"Y/n, are you in there? I know you saw what happened. Please open the door and let me explain. Don't shut me out, babydoll." Bucky's voice floated through the door.
You cringed at the nickname then begrudgingly padded across the room and opened the door. Bucky looked at you with relief and walked past you into your apartment.
"I didn't say you could come in." You said flatly.
"Y/n, please." He panicked. "That woman..."
"Is the one you brought home that night."
"You remember her?" Bucky questioned.
"I remember everything." You whispered. "Every memory just came rushing back as soon as I heard that awful, screeching giggle and saw her face."
"So, you remember me?" Bucky's eyes lit up.
"Yep. Was everything a lie?" You asked, crossing your arms over your chest.
"What?" Bucky's brows furrowed and he squinted in confusion.
"At the pond? When you told me how you felt about me. Was it all a lie?"
"Of course not!"
"Then why did you let her kiss you? Was it because you wanted to fuck her again?" You asked, voice dangerously low.
You knew you were being irrational, but all you could think about was the night of your accident and how the last thing you heard before slamming the door were moans and giggles coming from his room.
"I pushed her away! I swear. I told her to leave me alone and that I never wanted her." Bucky reached out for you, but you took a step back. He inhaled deeply and took another step forward and then another.
"I didn't sleep with her that night. As soon as the door slammed, I came out to see what was going on. That's when Steve told me you were in love with me. I wanted to go after you, but he said he would. I made her go home as soon as Steve went to find you. I haven't been with anyone else since. Please believe me, Y/n." His voice was soft and he took a final step, placing himself directly in front of you.
"Do you want to know why I left that night?"
Bucky looked unsure, but nodded anyway.
"You called her babydoll. That was always your name for me and you used it on some bitch you were planning to fuck. If you cared about me at all, why would you call her that?"
"I–"
Bucky had an answer to your question, but it was going to sound awful.
"Spit it out, Buck." You said impatiently.
"The only reason I called her that is because I wanted you to hurt the way I was hurting when I saw you with Steve that night." Bucky bowed his head, ashamed of his actions. "I know how awful that is and that it's childish and toxic. I'm so sorry, Y/n. That doesn't excuse my behavior, but I'm truly sorry and if you give me a chance...I won't hurt you again."
You bit down on your bottom lip and your eyes watered.
"You are my babydoll. No one else." Bucky caressed your cheek, catching the lone tear that fell from your eye.
"Jesus, we're not even dating and I'm acting like a jealous girlfriend." You shook your head, and took a deep breath. "I probably sound fucking crazy right now."
You were never one to show your feelings. Letting people see how they were affecting you felt like a weakness, but Bucky had the ability to bring everything you felt to the surface.
"You don't sound crazy. If the roles were reversed, I would've reacted the same way. I've hurt you so much even though I didn't know I was doing it. It would kill me to see another man kiss you. Even thinking about it makes me sick to my stomach. Just know that there isn't another woman on this planet that I would ever want more than you."
