You and Bucky are in a band together. He writes a love song as a duet for you and him, but you don't know that it's actually about you until he kisses you after the first time you perform it live.

Bucky was furiously scribbling in a notebook when you got back to the apartment you shared with him and your other bandmates. You and Nat had gone out to grab a few drinks after practice while Bucky and Steve went back to the apartment to work on a new song that Bucky hadn't been able to get out of his head. The band was well on its way to becoming something great. You were gaining recognition with every show you played, but you were still playing smaller venues than any of you would like.

Nat walked back to the bedroom she shared with Steve while you fell on the couch next to Bucky. Your head landed on his shoulder as you looked at his notebook. He barely seemed to notice you as he continued to write down lyrics. But that's just how Bucky was when he was in the zone. He didn't notice anything when inspiration hit and he lost himself in creating a new song.

"A love song? That's very un-Bucky of you." You mumbled as you continued looking at the lyrics.

"Hey! No over the shoulder reading!" He quickly shut the notebook before you could finish reading the lyrics.

"Oh, come on. I wanna see." You reached for the notebook, your chest pressing against his as he twisted on the couch, but he held it out of your reach.

"Not until I finish it."

"Please?" You gave him your best puppy dog eyes and poked your bottom lip out.

"Sorry, doll. I promise you can see it when it's finished."

"Promise?" You said, holding out your pinky.

"Promise. After all, it's gonna be a duet for the two of us." He said, taking your pinky with his and shaking it.

"Wait, you want me to sing? Bucky, I don't sing. I'm the drummer." You pushed yourself up and grabbed the sides of his face, before reiterating. "I don't sing."

"I've heard you, Y/n. You're amazing. I'm writing this specifically for you and me. I can't perform it without you, doll." Bucky pulled you into his arms and took a cue from you, flashing you puppy dog eyes.

Damn him and those irresistible blue eyes.

"Fine." You grumbled. "But when I make an ass of myself and a laughing stock of the band, don't blame me."

"You won't. Trust me. Everyone is going to love this song. But most importantly they're going to be begging to hear your beautiful voice more." Bucky kissed your forehead and smiled down at you.

"You're always so sure of yourself, Barnes."

"This time I'm sure of you, doll."

You couldn't help but melt at his words. You looked into Bucky's eyes and watched as his gaze flicked down to your lips. You almost leaned up to kiss him, something you had been wanting to do since you first met him eight years ago, but you didn't. He was your friend and your bandmate. It could ruin everything you all had worked so hard for. But his lips were so close to yours. Right as Bucky decided to lean down and take your lips with his, Nat and Steve walked into the room. You pulled away from Bucky and scrambled to the other side of the couch. He looked at the pair and gave them his best glare.

"You two just need to fuck already." Nat smirked as she grabbed Steve's hand and pulled him towards the door, but she stopped and turned to face the two of you. "We'll be gone for the night if you decide to take my advice."

"Baby, play nice." Steve said, slinging his arm around Nat's shoulders.

Your face turned bright red and Nat chuckled. The door slammed, leaving you and Bucky alone in the apartment.
