There was something off as you walked into your father's house. The air felt heavy and there wasn't a sound to be heard except your heels clicking over the hardwood. It was dark outside, but only a single dim light shone from your father's office down the hall.

"Dad?" You called out.

Your voice echoed off the walls as you moved slowly down the hall. The sound of a gun cocking had you freezing mid-step. A tall blonde man with blue eyes stepped around the doorframe of your father's office and pointed his gun at you. Instinctively, you took a step back. Strong arms wrapped around your body causing you to look over your shoulder to see who was holding you. A dark skinned man with hard eyes was glaring down at you, daring you to make a sound. Your mouth opened involuntarily as a scream began to rip up your throat. His hand clamped down on your mouth and held you tighter against a muscled chest.

The blonde nodded to the other man and jerked his head to the side, indicating for him to take you into the office. He nudged you forward, forcing you to walk as he held you close to him. Most of the office was cast in dark shadows with only a single light illuminating the space. The lamp on the desk was laying on its side shining a dim beam of light towards a slumped over figure. Your eyes followed the light and you saw your father. He was sitting in a chair in the middle of the room, bloody and beaten. Your eyes widened and you fought against the arms holding you, but you couldn't get free.

"Stop struggling." The voice whispered harshly.

Your breathing accelerated and you stopped fighting, eyes never leaving your father.

"Let her go, Sam. It's not like she can run off and no one will hear her scream." A deep voice said from the shadows.

You peered into the dark across the room. As your eyes adjust, you could make out the form of a man sitting on the leather couch against the wall. You could tell from his outline that he wasn't a small man, but when he rose from the couch and stepped into the light, your eyes widened.

Striking blue eyes crinkled at the corners when he smirked at you. His dark brown hair was tied back, exposing swirling tattoos peeking from beneath the collar of his shirt. You had to crane your head to look up as he stepped closer and held his hand out towards you. Hard muscles flexed under the expensive suit he wore and tattoos adorned his outstretched hand. He was handsome to say the least. Maybe if you weren't so fucking scared and confused as to what was happening, you'd actually take the time to give him a proper once over.

Sam released you and took a step back, but you didn't move. The man in front of you ran his tongue across his bottom lip as he looked you up and down, waiting for you to take his hand. You could tell his patience was wearing thin the longer you hesitated.

"You're being rather rude right now, Y/n." He huffed.

When you still didn't move, he grabbed your hand and pulled you towards the couch.

"Steve, turn the lights on. No need for theatrics now." He said without taking his eyes off you.

Steve walked towards the door as the dark haired man pulled you forward. He guided you to sit down and then took the spot next to you as the room was filled with light. You looked over towards your father again. Blood was streaming down his face and he could barely hold his eyes open. His hands were bound behind the chair and his ankles had been tied to the legs. His eyes opened long enough to make eye contact with you. A small whimper escaped his lips.

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry, baby." He whispered.

Your brow furrowed in confusion. What was he sorry for? Clearly he was in some type of trouble, but what did that have to do with you? The question was on the tip of your tongue when a strong hand reached up and grabbed your chin gently, forcing you to turn away from your father.
