TW: No spice, but there are some dirty pick up lines scattered throughout the story.

Bucky Barnes was your best friend. When he found himself in need of a new assistant to help out at his company, you volunteered until he could find someone else. That was six years ago and you were still working for him, but you didn't mind.

You met Bucky and his best friend Steve in high school. Steve was dating your friend Nat and the four of you ended up becoming inseparable. As Steve and Nat grew closer as a couple, you and Bucky started spending more one-on-one time with each other and found that you had a lot in common.

Bucky was the most handsome and considerate man you had ever met with the kindest heart, so it was no surprise that you had fallen in love with him. However, you were too chicken to say anything because you were afraid he'd reject you. Not only would you be heartbroken, you would ruin the friendship you had built.

One of your favorite things about Bucky was that he liked to try out awful pickup lines on you. He had started during your senior year of high school and never stopped. He found it adorable when you'd roll your eyes and scoff at him while trying to hide the blush creeping across your face.

Around the holidays, Bucky liked to switch it up and you'd hear a whole new batch of holiday themed pickup lines. Some of them were pretty clever while the others were just downright cringy. The first time he ever tried a holiday themed pick up line on you, he asked if your right leg was Thanksgiving and your left was Christmas, would you let him come visit you between the holidays. Today was December first and you knew his Christmas pickup lines would be starting today, but this year you had a surprise for him. You were going to join in.

Bucky walked into the office a few minutes after you and you smirked to yourself. The coffee cup in your hand was steaming hot as you sat it on his desk and smiled at him.

"Morning, Y/n." Bucky said as he began combing through papers on his desk.

"Morning, Buck. Hey, I know what I want for Christmas by the way."

"What's that, doll?"

"Batteries." You smirked.

Bucky dropped the papers in his hand and looked at you confused.

"Batteries?"

"Mhm." You leaned over his desk and bit your bottom lip as your smirk grew. "All my favorite toys run on batteries."

The crease between his brow deepened until he finally realized what toys you were referring to. You laughed as his face reddened and then sauntered out of his office and back to yours. As soon as you sat down, your phone rang and you picked it up immediately upon seeing Bucky's extension.

"Office of James Barnes, this is Y/n. How may I help you?" You said sweetly.

"Did you just use a pickup line on me?" He asked quickly.

"I did. You do these Christmas themed lines every year, so I thought it was about time I joined in. I've got some great ones, so get ready."

"Oh, sweet, innocent, naive, Y/n. You're no match for me, sweetheart. Why don't you leave the pickup lines to me?" He chuckled.

"I think you're underestimating me, Mr. Barnes. Now, if you're done bothering me, I have work to do."

You hung up and got to work, not leaving your office until lunch time. You and Bucky usually spent your lunch hour in one of your offices eating take out and watching Netflix on your phone, but today he had a lunch meeting so you would be on your own today. You finished up your work day and was waiting at the elevator when you felt someone step up behind you and lean into your ear.
