You rubbed your hand down your left forearm, grazing the cursive writing adorning your skin. You had been staring at the words since the day they appeared on your eighteenth birthday. Their arrival signaled that you would now be able to identify your soulmate. The person you were fated to spend your life with would have the exact same words in the exact same spot on their body. Yours just happen to be the opening line of the chorus to "Kiss Me" by Ed Sheeran.

You were excited when the words first appeared. You found yourself randomly glancing at strangers' arms to see if their words matched yours. After a few years, you began to get discouraged, but didn't give up hope. It had only been a few years and you were still young. However, now it had been ten long years since the writing appeared on your arm and you still hadn't found your soulmate. You sighed in frustration and pulled your baggy flannel over your t-shirt then grabbed your bag and slung it over your shoulder.

When you walked into Tony's lab, you dropped your bag on the floor next to your desk and yelled out for Tony.

"Mr. Stark?"

You saw his head pop out from behind one of his suits with a smile plastered on his face.

"Someone is running late this morning."

"Yeah, sorry. I did grab you a coffee though, so am I forgiven?"

Tony paused what he was doing to take the cup from your outstretched hand.

"Seeing as you're the best techie I've ever had in here, I'd forgive you without the coffee." He took a long sip from the cup and groaned. "But, just so it's noted, coffee is always welcome anytime you're running late in the future."

"What do you need me to start on today, Mr. Stark?"

"Y/n, it's Tony. How many times do I have to tell you that?"

"Apparently a lot. Now, what do you need me to do?"

"I've got you on calibration duty today. All the suits need to be checked, so I guess just start on that side of the room and make your way over. I've got a meeting with Fury in a few hours, so I'll be ducking out as soon as I finish adjusting some of the wiring in this suit."

"You got it boss." You saluted him and walked off to the first suit.

After two hours, you decided you needed a break. You sat at your computer reading a book when the door to the lab opened. A man barged through the door with a scowl on his face. You had seen him around the compound and knew he was the Winter Soldier, but you had never met him before. Your eyes always lingered on him when you spotted him. Something about him drew you in, but you were never sure what it was other than how stupidly good looking he was. His short hair and dark stubble complemented his tanned skin and sharp features.

"Tony!" The man called out and grasped his metal arm that was hanging limp by his side.

"Hi, I'm Y/n. Tony isn't here right now. Is there something I can help you with?"

His icy blue eyes roamed over you and a strange feeling rolled through your stomach. He was even more handsome up close, like fucking model handsome. You had a strange urge to reach out and touch him, but that would be weird because who just goes around touching random people. You dug your hands into your back pockets while the man continued to stare at you. When his eyes met yours, he gave his head a small shake and finally introduced himself.

"Uh, sorry about that. Bucky Barnes." He said holding his right hand out to you. You shook his hand and felt tingles run up your arm as soon as your skin touched his. You both glanced down at your clasped hands and then quickly let go. Chalking it up to static electricity, you shoved your hand back in your pocket. Bucky stood looking at you curiously until you cleared your throat.
