Abandoned

The fact that I will feel abandoned if he leaves me or never returns makes me realize that, despite my resistance to him and my attempts to push him away, he was steadily taking up place in my life. Without my knowledge, he's rapidly becoming my home.

Him leaving me forever feels like I have been abandoned, like how my parents abandoned me. He's slowly becoming my home. He's becoming my home without my knowledge.

We got a call at two thirty in the morning informing us that the search and rescue team had finally found the missing individuals and that they were working hard to get them back to the the shore.  Because of the severe weather, it can take hours, but they guarantee that all medical personnel are prepared for their arrival.

We hurried to the specified shore, where I found my friends Nathan, Lakshmi, and Andrea standing with the authorities despite appearing quite weary and anxious.

"Did they verify that the person they found was Deuce?"

When Nathan saw that I was there, he became concerned and even told me that I should have remained at the resort and that they would return there right away once the people found were confirmed.

"There is no confirmation, but they are positive that three individuals have been recovered. They need an emergency medical examination, but hopefully they are still conscious." Nathan explained.

"They also mentioned that they would be coming back so everything will be okay.  All we have to do is wait." Malik comforted everyone.

Nathan told us that the man who had arrived earlier was not Deuce, and that they are still awaiting a claim before they can obtain authorization to investigate and determine the reason of unknown man's death.

"The higher ups already know what's going on here and that Deuce is missing. Here on this vacation, Av, we're all colleagues. In order to prevent us from being questioned at home, they must be aware of what is going on here. He is working toward becoming a captain....the company for sure needs to be alerted,"

Because Nathan had organized, planned, and booked this vacation for all of us and now one of us is suddenly missing, the tension and anxiety increased as a result of what he said. Of course, he had to make sure to clear things up right away.

It's even more terrifying to realize that the company was aware of it; it seems as though the situation is spreading like wildfires.

If something terrible were to happen to Deuce, the company would be involved. Given that this is a private vacation and that we are all employed by the same company, some may assume there are foul plays. People will make unfavorable assumptions and hold various narratives about what happened in Maldives.

Nathan must have felt incredibly responsible for what's happening, which is why he's out searching for him and gathering information.

When the medical team noticed a larger boat that has similar looks with jet ski getting closer to the coast, they were alarmed and headed for the waters. A body lay behind, and I noticed the young child sitting and being caressed by someone else without realizing. It's far away, and with the rain and darkness, it's difficult to identify faces.

As I witness the medical personnel rush to assist the Coast Guard team, it seems as though time has stopped. Someone is calling out that they are unconscious and that they need help right now. They all assisted in getting the unconscious person to the ambulance and transport them to the hospital.

With my fists clenched around my chest, I watched as everyone hurried to assist. The frail little child is currently receiving treatment from the medical professionals and has a warm blanket placed over her body.
