Coffee, tea or me?

"Good evening passengers. This is your captain speaking. We are currently cruising at an altitude of 33,000 feet at an airspeed of 400 miles per hour. The time is 11:35 pm. The weather is good and with the tailwind on our side we are expecting to land in Miami  approximately fifteen minutes ahead of schedule. If the weather cooperates we should get a great view of the city as we descend. The cabin crew will be coming around in about twenty minutes time to offer you a light snack and beverage, and the inflight movie will begin shortly after that. Until then, enjoy the rest of the flight." everyone heard the Captain's announcement as we take off.

After conducting safety check before flight and Pre-flight safety procedure demo we immediately strut our way back to the galley to prepare for the service.

What's great about working red eye flights are most passengers prefers to just rest and sleep. Hearing another 'ding' call button makes every cabin crew traumatized.

"You should go to the flight deck for service." pang usisa na naman ni Niccolo.

"And what? Ask if they prefer chicken or beef?" umiling ako at inabala ang sarili sa trabaho. Sa iba nalang ang task na yan at busy ako rito no "Might as well serve a fish 'cause that's what suits him. Annoying asshole,"  hiss under my breath while preparing a coffee for some passenger.

"You want him to die?" biglang sumulpot si Nathan at naghanda rin ng fruit platter. "That bad, huh?"

Airlines banned fish for safety and to avoid food poisoning during the flight, specifically restricted the pilots to have them.

Just to ensure that no single point and chances of failure impacts the ability to provide a safe flight and get all passengers to the destination on time.

Reason why both pilots can't have the same meal at the same time. If one of them is incapacitated, the other one takes over. One person can safely fly a modern aircraft under normal conditions.

"Flight crew can't have the same meal but can have the same women," Niccolo shook his head teasingly, he knows he made a point.

"Tea!" agreed with his sneaky banter, sa puntong to as a marites nalang talaga kami rito sa trabaho.

Now that thought made me picture how many games of Rock Paper Scissors has been played in the cockpit for the better dish?

Like usual i greeted the flight crew as soon as i enter the deck and asked about their requests and favored meal.

"I would like to have the chicken meal and a cup of coffee, please." sagot ng captain.

"Got it," I nodded and smiled at him as i take note of what he requested.

"How's the passengers back there? I hope the crew are not having war on the galley," biro niya.

"Not so hectic, Capt. Everyone's tired maybe because of the delay." he's like a gentle grandpa to everybody here at work.
