The emotion that Sentinekka feels is indescribable. She is there, in that meadow illuminated by lanterns and fireflies; the moon is rising in the sky, accompanied by her stars friends, and serves as background during that long-awaited event.
She's wearing the dress her mother Isabel had worn when she was her age: it's beige, it reaches her knees and it has short sleeves. It's pretty simple, but she likes it so much!
Her parents and the whole village are behind her, greeting her and wishing her well on her journey. They have always considered Sentinekka as the village's little jewel, because her skin has got a strange gradient that goes from brown to white, and there are so many sparkles on it...
However, Symphony still didn't arrive. Maybe her parents don't want to let her go? Maybe they don't trust their daughter's choice?
That's what she wonders, anxious and lost, until she hears the voice of her best friend, who joins her with her family. They are running so fastly!
«Here I am!». She is very happy, her enthusiasm thermometer is skyrocketing. «I can come, I have the permission!».
«Really?!» Sentinekka exclaims, incredulous. Her little heart beats faster with her delight and, suddenly, she feels the exaggerated need to scream with happiness and to leap to vent her excitement. And that's what she does. Her hop is something that even looks like a pirouette in mid-air, it's funny to see it, but she doesn't care. She immediately runs to hug her best friend, who reciprocates affectionately; after that, the two take each other's hands and turn one last time towards the village.
Isabel, Zane and Isan watch Sentinekka with love and pride in their eyes.
They will miss their happy little girl. They fear the thought of losing her, that something will happen to her... But life must be lived; you can't trap those you love. You have to let go.
And, deep inside, they know that she will return.
Furthermore...
It was Isabel who had persuaded Symphony's mother Yatil to send her daughter away with Sentinekka.
Friendship is important, and they knew it better than anyone. On the other hand, they had started their adventures around the same time. They had birthdays on the same date.
As a result, they had traveled together to the end of their world.
Once upon a time, Yatil was a little girl with short, straight hair, very different from Isabel's ones, curly and tousled.
The two had been best friends since they were thirteen. They had helped each other in times of need, they had taken lessons together at the Passage Stone, where most teenagers learned to be trustworthy, they had freed hundreds of Spirits and talked so many times, confessed their biggest secrets... At times, the two women would talk about their past experiences as their daughters played with their dolls, still unaware of their magical fate.
«Isa... Do you think this is really a good idea?» Yatil asks her friend thoughtfully.
She looks at her for a while, before seeing the two girls disappear, then she replies:«Friendship is the only thing that will protect them. That's the secret to not taking risks; and you know it. You're just scared, it's perfectly normal. You will see that Symphony and Sentinekka will return. Of course, they will have changed; they will be sixteen and eighteen, probably; but, at least, they will see us again. That's what matters».
«Those two are good, ma'am» Isan comments Isabel's words with a confident face. «Sentinekka is ready to open herself to everything and everyone, she will discover many more things than I have discovered in all this time; and your daughter, Symphony, on the other hand, is clever. She will know instantly what to do».
«I believe in your words, I know you would never lie to me... Who knows what will happen...» Yatil concludes, curious.
The maidens have already disappeared outside the village; from a distance, their voices trembling with excitement can be heard; their chats about what will await them in the initial stage ...
...The Isle of Dawn
-----
Okay, okay, I'm calm! I am with Symphony, my best friend; we just left for our strongest adventure! The feeling I get is spectacular, I feel more alive and free than ever! Of course, I will miss my family and my family will miss me. Even my older cousin, Isan, who came today to pay me a wonderful visit from the place where she lives, the Village of Dreams.
There you can skate, you can meet many people... Isan is considered the most talented and good at fighting girl in the whole village. Unfortunately, she told me that the most beautiful girl is not her, but a certain Sinè, who also turned out to be her friend and colleague; for me though, Isan will always be the best at everything! Always!
Anyways: I can't wait to get to the Isle of Dawn!
You have to follow its constellation to reach it; so it must be done to end up in a realm. My dad explained it to me this morning while everyone was having breakfast. But you can reach a realm even without looking at the sky the whole time.
From now on - or at least until we finish the adventure - my only companion is Symphony. We are a great team!
I already know that everything is going to be perfect!
