Isle - Chapter 5

«Strange to hear...» Symphony speaks, while lighting another candle, one and only, as if it's abandoned.

Sentinekka watches her and analyzes every move.

«You're right...» she replies, surprised. «I really didn't expect this, I didn't believe that the caves contained these secrets».

«We are in a rather breathtaking place after all... From the outside this place looked smaller!».

The candle flame shimmers in the dark, writhing desperately and wriggling.

The constellation on the wall suddenly disappears.

«But Darkness Came And The Stars Fell...» the voice says.

«What?» Symphony gasps.

«She said that the Light fell, it was defeated...» Sentinekka answers.

«I heard it, you know?» Symphony tells her sarcastically.

The melodic sound resumes her speech:«And With Their Light We Faded Away».

In the constellation there are still little people kneeling in front of the nothingness.

The two girls stand there, staring at that so surreal representation of the legend of the stars. Sentinekka looks at Symphony, who returns the equally dazed look.

«So?» the thirteen-year-old girl asks.

«Still missing some candles to light...» Symphony concludes.

She looks around, then indicates with her hand an exit. It's a link to a lowland.

«Bingo!» she exclaims. She takes Sentinekka by the hand and leads her to the lowlands, where there is a crystalline lake; there are the last three candles.

«The honor to you...» she adds, gently nudging her towards the candles.

Sentinekka obeys to her instincts, giving life to a lively and warm flame.

So, the illustration changes: there are shooting stars and two little men. Who are they? They have two wings behind them and they shine so brightly... They represent her and Symphony! How lovely!

«A Long Time Has Passed... Now We Call You».

Those magical words make Sentinekka's sweet eyes shine like the two people on the cave's wall, and she clings to her best friend affectionately.

«Go Forth, Children. Discover More And More, Return Our Spirits...». The voice expresses with confidence. «... To The Stars».

To the stars? Is this what must be done? But how? How can this action be performed? That's what Sentinekka would like to ask while Symphony takes her outside by the hand. They end up on a small cliff. Obviously it's not dangerous, it's just a big distance between the elevated part of the cave and the sandy ground.

«What a lovely view!» Symphony exclaims, amazed.

«Not that there's green land or anything, but you're right! I already love this place!» Sentinekka replies, agreeing with the fifteen-year-old.

The presence seems to get closer and says:«Go Forth, So We Can Get You Started On This Journey».

Silence falls completely on the Isle of Dawn, while the luminous birds flutter in the air with freedom and elegance.

«And now? How do we go down? Shall we jump?» Sentinekka asks and looks at Symphony with intrigued eyes.

«I am not gonna jump from this height!» the other rebels with a disapproving stare.

Sentinekka chuckles:«Are you afraid?».

«What if we hurt ourselves while falling?».

«I don't think it will happen».

As the two argue on the edge of the peak, a male voice gets their attention.

«Could I pass?».

He is a short haired boy. A tuft of them hides his forehead, and he is wearing beige clothes and a dark bag on his shoulder. Finally, over his shoulders, he has a fringed brown cloak that reaches to his spine.

The two look at him, stunned.

«What?» Symphony asks, curious.

«Could I pass?» he repeats. His greyish mask can be noticed easily. «It's just that I'd like to avoid making you fall while trying to get off here. That's all».

«Oh, sorry!» the two friends say in chorus.

They make enough space for the boy, who cautiously walks over the precipice and finally thanks them with a graceful bow. After that, he drops below the rock platform and elegantly begins to fly like one of the birds.
