The friends talk to each other enthusiastically.
«You are a missionary! That's great, Sen'! I see you've already gotten used to the experience of the Village» Ojtaro exclaims, excited. His little friend isn't so little anymore. It is likely that the student has surpassed the teacher.
«Well, I guess...» she thinks aloud, a little lost in the sentences of her friend. Then, something comes to her mind. «Can I talk to you about something?».
«Of course, what is it?».
-----
It's not... No... No, No! How does she know?!
Ojtaro lowers his gaze, he doesn't want to show Sentinekka how he feels, but you can tell from the lightning-fast movement he makes to move his head: he's afraid.
Sentinekka knows what he is, she knows he is a descendant, a descendant of those cursed Elders. How does she, a fourteen years old girl who only looks stupid by her face, know that?!
The boy tries to maintain a detached and normal behavior towards the girl, but pushes her towards the most hidden point of the top floor of the Vault, one of the statues behind that of the Elder Lamed, ruler of the realm.
Then, he kicks off the stress.
«How do you know it?! Who told you that?! And why did he do it?! Why would a person say something like that to you, how the heck did they come up with that?! How the heck did I end up in a discussion I wasn't present at?! I demand valid explanations, you better...». He stops suddenly, as if he were calming down automatically. He is calming down, but not automatically. It's Sentinekka's expression that forces him to do so. No one should ever raise their voice at her like this, somehow it's a sacred law for him. And he is literally violating it. Brilliant. «Sorry, it's not easy to find calm in a situation like this. Someone like me shouldn't have this behavior...».
«Relax, you don't have to apologize. I can understand that you are a little scared, but I don't want to reveal this secret. I want to let you know that you're safe with me, alright?».
«I... I am?».
«You are».
They look at each other for a while, then Ojtaro whispers:«Thank you... Really, thank you, Sen'».
She smiles, while the Light shines inside her green eyes.
«Now... I'd love to know more about what happened while we didn't see each other... Aren't you a little curious too?».
Well, Sentinekka is good at changing topic... Ojtaro thinks about how good she is to keep a secret, at how she looks like she already forgot what happened. When they first met, he thought that she had no memory and that being a Child helped her to live happily without looking at the bad things... Actually, she's only good at... Hiding it? What if she could use this ability against...? What the heck is he thinking about?! She would never lie to him! Never!
«Ojtaro?» Sentinekka calls him twice, but he doesn't hear her at first.
«Oh, sorry! I was lost in thoughts ha ha...». His nervous laugh makes him feel embarassed, but she laughs too.
«So?» she asks again, intrigued.
«What should I tell you? Is there something that you want to hear?» Ojtaro asks his loyal and lovely friend. His eyes really want to know more about that Sentinekka that stands in front of him, but he needs more time. Right?
