So... Is this how a Spirit must be helped? Sentinekka still seems shocked about the Spirit's story. One question haunts her since she and her friends went away from the cave.
«When I'll die, will I become a Spirit too?» she thinks, tormented.
She doesn't know if it's better to ask this question to Ojtaro, her only human encyclopedia. He knows so much, while she barely understands the Isle of Dawn and what makes it so amazing. So she takes her notebook to avoid the boredom for these last few minutes in that heavenly place.
-----
Me, Symphony and Ojtaro helped a Spirit and, now, we know his story.
-----
«I advise you to put that diary away. It could fall».
Ojtaro is speaking to her. She obeys and closes the book.
«Why?» she then asks, confused.
«We're gonna meet the clouds and the birds, my dear friend».
«Do you mean that we are going to fly?!».
«Yes, shortly».
«But Symphony and I don't know how!».
«How do you think I learned how to fly? You have to make new experiences».
«I hate to admit it, but he's right» Symphony interjects, helping Ojtaro to convince Sentinekka.
She sighs. «We won't fall, will we?» she asks, worried.
«I'll keep an eye on you two, you won't get hurt» he reassures her.
Meanwhile, the three have reached the platform beyond the barrier.
Beyond it there are clouds. And further on, a beautiful and old temple. That's the magical structure Ojtaro was talking about earlier.
«Pinkie promise?» the girl asks. She trusts him, anyways. She doesn't even know why she's asking for a promise. Maybe just to make sure he won't make them fall?
The boy looks straight at her in the eyes, does the same thing with Symphony and replies:«Pinkie promise».
Sentinekka calms down after hearing these words. Promises must always be kept, even at the cost of the life.
Ojtaro proposes to them:«How about giving me your hands? So you'll be sure I won't let you fall... I do this with many "Moths" like you two».
«Moths?» Symphony repeats, unaware of the meaning of that expression.
«This word indicates the new Children of the Light. Those who have just started their journey... Just like you» the boy explains.
«What a lovely nickname!» Sentinekka comments, softened.
«I approve. Sometimes... People even "adopt" the Moths. They take them around to unlock Spirits and complete their adventures. And...» says Ojtaro. With a bit of hesitation, he adds:«I think I'll do the same with you two...».
The two gasp enthusiastically.
«So you won't leave us in our time of need like I thought you would do?!» Symphony says, moved. She doesn't realize at first that she revealed what she thought about Ojtaro.
When the boy's stare freezes for a moment, she immediately understands.
-----
That word completely fills his mind.
Abandon? Why would he ever do that? Why has Symphony thought this about him? Did Sentinekka do that too?
He had to deal with it since his birth, he could never do that to anyone else. And, surely, not to two newbies like them...
From outside the nothingness he's seeing around him, he can hear Sentinekka telling something to her friend in a stern tone:«What?! Did you think he would?».
She trusts him.
Symphony looks at him and understands why his eyes are now so empty.
-----
And, suddenly, she realizes she was wrong. Ojtaro is not really that bad... In fact he just behaves in a way that she doesn't understands well. But why does she feel like he's evil?
«I'm sorry» she whispers to him, but she stays in her own space.
«Well... It doesn't matter anymore» he concludes, looking away from the two girls.
----
Maybe he should forgive her. But he fears that Symphony still won't trust...
... How pathetic. He's so pathetic. Why is he even surprised?
As for Sentinekka, he has no doubts: their friendship will improve. He can stay assured that she will be a great travel companion. The companion he needed.
