Ojtaro reaches the Passage Stone and instantly finds his siblings. Horand is holding Mihok, who turned into an adorable raccoon, in his arms, and Leilah is walking with them away from the Stone to go to sleep. He knew that the last Lesson was going to be the most tiring of them all and, honestly, they all look like could die soon.
«Hey guys» he greets them, smiling. «How are y'all?».
They all turn around and reach him.
Horand answers for Leilah, who would love to be a shapeshifter too to become a small animal and be taken by her big brother:«Pretty fine, but we really need sleep. What about you? You didn't spend much time in the Cave. Are you alright?».
«Of course! I'm done».
«That's cool, can we go to sleep now?» Leilah asks, rubbing her eyes.
«Leilah, you and Mihok can go. I'll stay with Oj'» Horand tells her, stroking her head and smiling under his mask of the Prairie Peaks, a village that once existed but that got corrupted and died because of the Darkness. The day it happened was the same day when the Guide of the Passage, who still wasn't a Guide but a dude that was always running away from the Guards of the Elders, found and saved him and, well, they became a great family. Nice! Then they found Mihok, and Leilah and, for last, Ojtaro. Boom. The family of the Passage was born.
«Fine» she concludes, taking her twin brother and going away.
«The Allignment was hard. That's all I can say» Horand says, giggling. «Were the Prophets happy? They were getting rid of a rebel Child like you» he jokes, while starting to accompany him to his beige tent.
«Actually, they seemed proud of my job. That's cool, since I always thought they were going to hate me».
«The Prophets always knew that you were going to be different from the last person who finished the Trials for real. I suppose that the Elders told them about how you've always been».
«Maybe yes, maybe not. Only Megabird knows».
«You're right, the Light can be unpredictable sometimes. Surely, not like you. You are often predictable. In everything you do».
«I like myself the way I am, I don't need to change anything».
«That's the spirit! I know you'll do great things».
«Where's dad, anyways?».
He'd like to change topic. He doesn't like the idea of being an Elder... But being an Elder with Sen' would be better.
«Oh, he's resting. Trust me, dealing with many Children is not easy. Also, the Guides' reunions are becoming frequent».
«Why? What's going on?».
«Do you remember Rhythm, the brother of the Guide of Performance? He's the Guide of Rhythm...».
«I do, why do you ask?».
«He's lost in an old and dead village; I think it is called Aviary or something like that. The Guides are organizing a shipping to save him before the corruption traps him, and our father would like to help... But, as you know, he can't... So he just goes to the reunions to help with the plans».
«He can't...?».
«Do you remember what happened the last time he left us alone for one day?».
He could never take away that experience from his memories. He nods, knowing too well that he'd like to forget that day, the day he discovered that the people of the Valley of Triumph were trying to kill his father and his new family for old reasons. Obviously, that was an old story. Now it's all calm and peaceful.
«You better go and rest, the letter of Sentinekka still didn't arrive. In these days, the Messengers are having problems with the delivery via birds».
«Oh, okay... Thanks».
