«She is Ṣayẹwo, the Prophet of Water». Najet, the Guide of Prophecies, is introducing the Prophets of the Elements to Ojtaro.
The Prophet of Water is patiently staring at him. She has got a blueish cape, a long ponytail and a sea turtle mask with blue markings on it. The other Prophets have differents masks too: Earth has a spider mask with green details, Air has got one of a bat with cyan markings, Fire has got one of a lion with red markings. They all have capes except the Prophet of Fire.
«"Control"?» Ojtaro translates. Ṣayẹwo means control in Yoruba, the ancient language that old people use the most. There were so many different languages, time ago, but now they only use the Yoruba as ancient language of communication. That's depressing.
«Exactly...You have old culture in your blood, young man» the Prophet of Water nods and says, closing her eyes.
Najet points at the Prophet of Earth and tells him:«And she is Alaje, which means "gentleness"». He then goes near the last two Prophets and continues:«And these two are Ominira and Ifarara».
«"Freedom" and "passion"?» Ojtaro thinks outloud. He expected that the Fire Prophet was going to be called like something like "strenght" or "flames"... But "passion"? What?
«You are really good at speaking Yoruba, I'm proud of you!» the Guide exclaims, joyful. «The Prince wasn't that good, he never said a sentence in that language without some mistakes».
Again with him?! Is Najet obsessed?!
«Oh, he was a failure in that... But he was great at fighting and discussing about the Kingdom!» the Prophet of Earth smiles, thinking about some old memory.
And the Air adds:«And he was nice! He always knew what to do for his family and people!».
«The first Child of Light who ever finished the Trial of Fire!» the last Prophet says, satisfied. He waits for the Prophet of Water's words, but they don't come out of her mouth. She looks calm, but also nervous.
Oh, she probably is having some crisis. Sad. Ojtaro can understand her. People can feel guilty, it's normal.
He just hopes that she won't be mean at him for some kind of old traumas.
«Now, future Ruler, do you know what is this?» Najet completely ignores the Water's silence and makes the boy concentrate on the big totem behind them.
«Call me by name» Ojtaro precises, looking at them all. Then, he turns around to see the totem and answers:«Some kind of magic objet who is supposed to tell me something, I'm sure».
«That's a good answer» the Guide smiles under his jackal mask, then he explains with an appropriate language:«Every time you will complete a Trial, a part of this statue will tell you a part of a story».
«That's... Surprising. It's like a treasure hunt». Ojtaro considers that opinon as a good example of Trials. A treasure hunt is more playful, he kinda likes it.
«If you think over about that, it's somehow true, young man».
«For the Light's sake, I'm Ojtaro!».
Alaje and Ominira giggle together. Ojtaro can hear them whisper:«He's totally different from Alef, I like him!» and:«He'll be a great student, seen his funny behavior».
-----
«How was the first time in the Cave?» Horand, his big brother, whispes to him after Ojtaro finally sat down near his family. He just came back from the first meeting with the Prophets and introduced himself to everyone at the first Lesson of the Passage. His eyes saw Sentinekka, she was kneeling with some of her friends; he wanted to say "hi" to her, but his instinct stopped him for who knows which stupid reason.
«Weird» he answers, while looking at his big brother. «How was the first Lesson?».
«Uhm... Stunning, I guess».
He laughs, and no one hears him, luckily. «Unsure?».
«Kinda».
«You will get used to it, Hor».
«I hope so, actually. People seem nice, after all. They... They know that I'll be a Guide».
«They should know that».
«It makes me feel a little bit overrated...».
«You're not overrated. You are just scared, but you know that you are the most cool student of them all».
«You are exaggerating, now».
«Maybe yes, maybe no. Only your heart knows, anyways».
Horand smiles. «You'll be a great Ruler».
