Orlando is my favorite character to be honest, and there are things that you do not know well about him; I kept hidden his past, and I'm not going to reveal it, but you can try to make theories with some hint!
He's totally scared of Darkness, and this has to deal with a lot in his life; Ojtaro was the first veteran that treated him well, and he became like a best friend to him. Sentinekka, instead, was the first Moth who never left him alone; When he met Sentinekka and Ojtaro his life changed instantly. He's never found someone that could hurt him again; As you can read in a chapter of the Eden (2), Ojtaro promised to protect Orlando during Sentinekka's absence, which they believed was going to be permanent. He never lied. Indeed, he always stayed by Orlando's side, but never talked about what he felt about his situations and stuff. Orlando did it, instead, and he really felt better after knowing that Oj' was going to help him for real like Sentinekka was able to do; Eyes ↠ magenta.
