The sound of a violin is in the air and reaches everyone's ears. The people of the small Village of the Prairie Caves are still celebrating the return of the Passage family. That's right. Before the Passage lessons, Ojtaro and his family always lived in the Prairie Caves with many other people and, now, they're back to their real home.
Ojtaro is still thinking about Horand's words while sitting on his bed of his room. Moving on...? Steps? It looks harder than he thought.
Can't he just forget everything? No, he could never forget about the girl he loved, that's impossible. Maybe Horand didn't add something that he must understand on his own, without any help... That's possible. His brother always tries to help, but can't do nothing when someone has to get something on their head without indications. He knows best after all.
His family is outside the house. They're probably talking with the people of their Village. They're nice, but Ojtaro just doesn't socialize much.
His father told him the reason they live in the Prairie Caves, once. It's because, when he found Horand for the first time, the Elder of the Prairie understood that he had a good heart. The Passage Guide was known as a shaman and shamans weren't seen as good people, in the past.
Well, Ayin was always a little bit sensitive. He thought that the shaman deserved to live with the kid that he saved. So the Elder told the other deities about his idea, and they all listened and learned their lesson: magic doesn't determine a heart. And, yes, the shaman then became a Guide, and he adopted other Children that - what a coincidence - no one wanted.
Nice story, despite everything. He remembers every word of it.
After all, he just has to find out how to forget someone without forgetting them. Horand surely doesn't want him to forget Sentinekka forever. She was everything to him, and he could never just take her off his mind.
She was his ray on sunshine and she knew how to cure his sadness and despair. The same Child of the Light that he always wanted to protect at every cost. He failed his mission, he didn't protect her... He's a failure at protecting the people he loves.
A total failure.
He has no idea of how to understand this... He's not that deep. Not like his brother.
Just when his tears are going to fall of his face for the hundredth time, someone calls him from outside his door. That voice is shy, worried and sounds tired. Oh, who could it be? Just that young boy he and Sentinekka met one year ago, at the end of the Hidden Forest. The young boy who was abandoned by every veteran he encountered during his journey.
«Orlando, please, come in without even asking» Ojtaro answers with a polite tone of voice that hides his pain. He likes Orlando. He's sweet and deserves to be treated nicely. He shouldn't see Ojtaro like that. «You are welcomed here».
The door opens, and the Child comes. He's wearing the same uniform that looks like the one of the Peeking Postman Spirit, but he has something unusual: a totally black cape. In fact, in the Village of Dreams people usually wear something black when someone dies. That something is always a cape, because it's symbolic. And since Orlando considers the Village as his real home, he respects every traditions. Sentinekka never followed every rule. Her home was the "Starting Point".
How is her family going to react to her death...?
«Sorry if I bother you, Ojtaro...» Orlando says with a broken voice and an insecure look. «I... Just...».
Ojtaro interrupts him:«You don't bother. As I said, you are welcome here. I know why you're here anyways».
He stands up and opens his arms. Not many people want hugs from Orlando, who knows why. That Child of Light just wants some affection. And he needs it in these days.
