3 DAYS LATER
I can't lie and say things haven't been stressful, especially when family don't put in like they are supposed to. We agreed to go in to go to the funeral home to get Mom buried cuz the insurance policy didn't cover it all. I gave what I could cuz I did need money to have to eat and stuff. It was a hassle to get into my savings cuz I couldn't go in person so I had to quit that cuz it was making me very mad. Dad told me not to worry about it and that he would find a way. Also, I didn't want him to give all his savings and money cuz he did need to have money for himself.
Things weren't going as planned and I was very disappointed and irritated. I got so irritated to the point I was snapping at every family member who made a smart comment or even looked at me wrong. It got too bad so Ke decided to get us a room for the rest of the stay. Against my objections of course, but I finally gave in.
I was asleep but I woke up a while ago and I was still lying in the same spot with my eyes closed. Ke was outside on the balcony on the phone with Arya with the door cracked so I heard her conversation. She had just got off the phone with Arya when her phone started ringing.
"Wassup Winter..." she said
"Hey, how y'all doing??" I heard Winter ask cuz she was on speakerphone
"I'm good, but your girl is taking things hard. But she and I are going to work on that before we get back around family..." Ke said
"What's going on??" She asked
"A lot of our family members haven't kept their word on pitching in the pay the rest of the cost to get Mama K buried. It really ticked Kass off and she started cursing everyone out so I removed her from that and I got us a room for the remainder of our stay..." Ke explained
"Damn, is she okay now??" She asked
"Yeah. Her head was hurting so she ate a bit, took some pain meds, and went to sleep..." Ke said
"Oh okay, that's good..." Winter said
"You haven't talked to her??" Ke asked
"No, not since the first day. I'm just tryna give her some space..." Winter said
"So, how much more they owe on the burial??"
"14..." Ke said
"THOUSAND??" Winter asked loudly
"Hundred..." Ke said laughing
"Oh..." Winter said
"When do y'all need it??"
"They tryna get it before Friday so we can have the funeral Saturday morning..." Ke said
"I wanna help..." Winter said
"I can send the money tomar, I just gotta move some stuff around..."
"That's so nice of you Winter, really..." Ke said
"I'm going to tell Kass when she wakes up..." Ke said
"Don't tell her..." Winter said
"Why??" Ke asked confused
Shid I was confused too.
"Cuz I don't want her to think that my help is tryna get us back or something like that. This is from the heart, I know she loves her mom and I know she and her dad would want her to be put away nicely and beautifully. And if me helping gives them that then that's all that matters..." she said
"I understand..." Ke said
"Well, I'm going to take it in, cuz I have to work in the morning. But on break, I will move the money around and send it to you. Then, you can give it to her and her dad..." she said
"This is so thoughtful and sweet of you. I'm sure they are going to appreciate this and I know I do. Thank you so much for this. This is going to be one less thing they have to worry about and a lift off of their shoulders..." Ke said
"And that's all I want. I'm going to go now, but let me know if y'all need something else. And take care of her..." Winter said
"Thank you, again. And I will definitely do that..." Ke said
"Y'all are very Welcome..." Winter said
They told eat other bye then hung up. Ke was on the balcony for a bit longer before coming into the room. I rolled ova and looked at her.
"You finally up..." she said sitting on her bed
"You feeling better??"
"Yeah..." I said while sitting up
"You hungry??" She asked
"Not right now..." I said grabbing my phone
"You talked to my dad??"
"Like an hour and a half ago. He called to check up on you..." she said and I nodded
"I'm bout to call him..." I said going into my contacts to call him
He answered on the third ring.
"Hey, Dad..." I said
"Wassup, you finally up??" He asked
"Yeah, I'm up. I just wanted to apologize for all the cursing and yelling I did at the house. You know how I am when people don't follow the actions they said they were supposed to be doing..." I said
"No need, everything you did was okay with me. You did something I have been wanting to do for years. The ones that didn't pitch in are the ones that do it all the time. They all talked and when it came down to it they didn't do
nothing..." he said
"Well, that's it for me. I will never depend on words they say until I see some action..." I said
"And that's understandable..." he said
"Where's everybody??" I asked
"The youngins went out to eat and the rest still in the front or sleep already..." he said
"What you doing??" I asked
"Drinking my tea then I'm heading to
bed..." he said
"How are you feeling??" I asked him
"I'm good. It's just I know the house is going to be super quiet and boring once everyone leaves..." he says
"Do you want me to stay with you a few more weeks??" I asked
"No Kass, you have a life to continue to live. You don't have to look after me, I'll be fine..." he said
"Dad it's not looking after you it's just keeping you company until you are comfortable..." I said
"Kassidy, I'll adjust. You still have a life to live. You can come to visit but I won't let you just stay here. You have things to do and you should do that. Don't worry about me cuz I'm going to be okay..." he said making me sigh
"Okay, Dad..." I said
We talked a lil longer before getting off the phone. I took a shower then Ke showered, we ordered food, ate, and called it a night. Well Ke did, but I was up late.
