I finally have gotten myself together and was ready to start back on my daily routines. It's been rough on me, but I've pushed through. I've gotten myself a new appearance. A haircut and I got color. And I did it myself.

Today was Saturday and I was on the way to Winter's job to thank her in person for what she did. When Ke announced we had all the money Dad was so happy that he became emotional cuz he thought we weren't going to get it in time to put Mom away the way we and she wanted.
It didn't take me long to get to her job. When I did, I parked and went in. I walked to the front desk and the girl was on the phone. She told me to hold on while she finished on the phone. 5 minutes later, she hung up before looking up.
"How may I help you??" She asked with a smile
"Hey, I'm here to see Winter, uhh Bennett..." I said
"She's in a meeting at the moment. They should be wrapping up in about 10-15 minutes. You are free to wait or you can leave a message with me and I can deliver it for you..." she said
"I can wait..." I said before turning to sit in the waiting area
A few minutes later some guys came in with flowers. They went to the front desk, and talked to the woman for a while, before leaving the flowers with her.
Like 10 minutes later, I heard heels hitting the floor. I looked up from my phone to see Winter walking with a man beside her. They were talking before she said bye to him and she went up to the front desk and handed the girl what seemed like a smoothie. The girl thanked her with a smile before giving her the flowers and pointing to me. Winter turned and looked at me. I stood up and walked up to her. She looked very surprised to see me.
"Hi..." she says smiling
"Hey..." I said
"What you're doing here??" She asked
"I want to talk to you..." I said
"Okay, we can go to my office then..." she said
"Lead the way..." I said
She gave me a small smile before walking ahead of me. I followed her onto the elevator and we went up to the first floor.
"Your new look looks very good. It suits you very well..." she said complimenting me
"Thanks. I needed some new so I did a lil diy..." I said
"You did this yourself??" She asked surprisingly
"Yeah, I've decided to go ahead and start practicing more. I did my hair and I cut Ke's too..." I said
"That's good. And you did a great job..." she says
"Thanks..." I said smiling
The elevator stopped on the 4th floor and the door opened. She stepped out and I followed behind her into her office. She opened the door and closed it once we got in. She sat the flowers down on her desk next to another bouquet. She went around to her side of the desk and signaled me to sit. She grabbed a card out of the flowers she just brought in and read it.
"It seems like you get a lot of flowers..." I said making her chuckle
"I don't, I guess I'm lucky today..." she said putting the card back in the flowers
"Your boo sent you flowers today..." I said jokingly
"I don't have a boo. These are from my trainee Jordan, basically, a thank you for training him. And these are from Clark..." she says
"You still talk to him??" I asked
"Absolutely not, the card said it was my earlier birthday gift..." she said
"But your birthday ain't until another month or so..." I said
I shrugged her shoulders before sipping some of her water. She picked up her phone.
"I'm bout to order lunch, you want anything??" She asked looking at me
"Yes actually cuz I haven't eaten yet..." I said
"You used to get on me for not eating all day. And now it's you waiting until 3 to eat..." she said shaking her head
I told her what I wanted. She ordered on her phone before setting her phone down and giving me her attention.
"You wanted to talk??" She asked "What's going on??"
"I really wanted you to know that Dad and I are very appreciative of what you did to help us bury my mom..." I said
"How did you know it was me??" She asked "Did Ke tell you??"
"No, she didn't. When y'all were talking about it Ke thought I was sleep, but I wasn't. So I heard everything, I know you didn't want me to know..." I said
"It's fine, I'm glad you know that I did that out of the kindness of my heart. And y'all are very welcome. It saddened me to know that you guys were going to something like that while dealing with a death. So, I did what I could to help..." she said
"And Thank you for your help..." I say looking at her smiling
"You're Welcome..." she says smiling too
Someone called her office phone. She was talking on the phone for a while before there was a knock at the door. She pulled the phone from her ear and covered the microphone part.
"Can you get the door for me??" She asked softly
I nodded before getting up and then opened the door. The girl from the front desk was standing at the door with the food and drinks.
"I'll take it. Thank you..." I said with a smile
"You're Welcome..." she says passing me the food
Winter smiled at her before she walked off. I closed the door and I sat the food on her desk as she started wrapping up the convo. After like 2 minutes, she put the phone down and rolled her eyes.
"I thought you were on lunch, why are you answering phone calls??" I asked
"Work never stops unless you outta your office. And my lunch passed me during the meeting so technically I'm not on lunch, but nobody tells me what to do..." she says before crossing her legs
I shook my head with a chuckle. She started going through the bag. She put my food in front of me and my drink.
"Thank you??" I said
"Of course..." she said before biting into her sandwich
We ate and talked. We were doing a lil catching up.
