"Beth, your siblings are asleep. Can I talk to you about something?" Quinn requested.
"Is this about me going back to L.A.?" Beth guessed.
"No." Quinn shook her head. "I still need to think about that before I talk to your father."
"Okay, then what?" Beth wondered.
"I've been seeing someone." Quinn announced. "And it's getting pretty serious, and I want to introduce you to him. Only if you're ready."
"Lucy and Grace, too?" Beth asked.
"Just you first." Quinn explained. "What do you think?"
"When can I meet him?"
-
"Remember what I said about best behavior and giving him a chance." Quinn said softly before leading the way to the tall brunette in the restaurant. "Hi."
"Hi."
Beth made a face as her mom and the stranger shared a light kiss before parting and smiling at each other.
"You must be Beth. I'm Finn." The man introduced himself. "You look just like a brunette version of your mom."
"I look like my brunette father." Beth replied.
Quinn gave her a look.
"Well, it's nice to meet you." Finn responded as the trio took their seats. "I've heard so much about you."
"Only good things, right, Mom?" Beth teased.
"Of course." Quinn smiled. "Finn, Beth just turned seventeen a few weeks ago."
Finn nodded. "Happy belated birthday."
"Thanks." Beth responded. "So how did you guys meet?"
"We met at a work event." Quinn answered. "A big dinner party."
"Yeah, I went up to your mom to compliment her work." Finn noted.
"He was a big fan." Quinn joked.
"Totally." Finn smirked.
"And we got to talking about work and our kids, and then he bought me a drink and asked me out." Quinn explained.
"It was the first time since my divorce that I really put myself back out there." Finn explained. "And honestly, I wasn't even looking for a date. I just thought Quinn was really cool and it sort of happened."
Beth nodded. "Well, it sounds like you're both happy together."
"Yeah." Quinn smiled as Finn put his arm around her.
"So you're an actor, too." Beth continued, looking at Finn. "Would I recognize you from anything?"
-
"What'd you think of Finn?" Quinn questioned Beth when they were alone at the end of the night.
"Honestly?" Beth asked.
"Yeah." Quinn nodded.
"Well." Beth began. "He's not Dad, but I really like him."
"Really?" Quinn wondered with a small smile.
"Yeah, he was really sweet." Beth noted. "And clearly he cares about you."
"You said he's not Dad." Quinn stated. "And I know you're upset about that, but-"
"I'm not upset that you and Dad aren't together anymore." Beth said.
"Then why do you wanna go back to L.A.?" Quinn asked.
"I wanna finish my senior year with my friends." Beth stated. "And spend some time with Dad before I come back to the East coast for college."
Quinn nodded slowly. "I'll talk to your father about it."
"Thank you." Beth smiled. "Are you gonna let Dad meet Finn?"
"Yeah, I think so." Quinn shrugged. "I haven't really thought about it."
"Well, I think he'll love Finn." Beth told Quinn. "For you."
Quinn laughed lightly.
