"Rachel, you had an announcement?"
"Yes!" Rachel exclaimed, getting up and hurrying to the front of the room. "We decided to throw a Sadie Hawkins dance at McKinley."
"Instead of prom?" Artie wondered.
"We'll still have prom in the spring." Rachel noted.
"What the hell is Sadie Hawkins?" Puck asked.
"It's a school dance where the girls ask the guys." Rachel explained. "I've already been given the green light from Principal Figgins, and I'd like to take the opportunity to sing to the person I want to ask."
Finn smiled happily.
"Can't we skip your song? We all know Finn's gonna say yes anyway." Santana replied.
"Yeah, and I'm still confused." Puck muttered.
"Me, too." Brittany said.
"Yeah, and how does it work for the gay couples?" Sam questioned Rachel.
"It's really just a formality." Rachel shrugged. "The idea is the person who doesn't usually initiate will do it for this. Sort of like a roleplay."
"Hot." Puck commented.
Quinn rolled her eyes.
"You think it's stupid." Rachel noted.
"I think the boys in this room are stupid." Quinn clarified. "Giving us girls the power for a change is cool."
Puck raised his eyebrow.
"Wait, so are you gonna sing and ask me now?" Finn wondered.
"Anybody else have any questions?"
-
"So." Puck said. "I'm thinking you should ask me to the dance."
"That's not how it works." Quinn responded.
"Come on, Q. I'm going kinda nuts waiting." Puck stated.
"Which is why it's fun." Quinn smiled.
"Tina asked Mike and Mercedes asked Sam already." Puck added.
"You can wait with Artie." Quinn noted. "Maybe I'll ask him."
Puck frowned.
"I have to go." Quinn said, closing her locker. "I'll see you later."
-
"Q, it's been days since Rachel announced that stupid dance." Puck said when Quinn let him into her house. "If you're not gonna ask me, tell me so I can go with one of the other girls who did ask me."
"Like who?" Quinn wondered.
"It doesn't matter." Puck shook his head.
"It does." Quinn insisted. "If you're even considering going with someone else, I wanna know who it is."
"I'm not." Puck said. "But I'm not going alone."
Quinn looked at him.
"Where's Beth?" Puck asked.
"Sleeping." Quinn answered. "Why don't you go get her?"
"Okay." Puck nodded, excusing himself. He headed upstairs to Beth's nursery and went into the room. He heard music playing and smiled when he saw the blonde standing in her crib dancing. "Hi, Monkeyface. Dada's here."
"Dada." Beth said.
"Dada's here." Puck repeated as he picked Beth up and kissed her cheek.
"Dance." Beth commanded.
"Dance." Puck nodded, doing his best attempt at dancing while he gently bounced Beth, making her giggle.
"Mama dance."
Puck turned around and looked at Quinn, who was standing in the doorway. She had a big smile on her face and looked amused as she leaned against the doorframe.
"Mama's a good dancer." Puck told Beth as he brought her over to Quinn. "Wanna take her?"
"She's asking you something." Quinn responded. "Tell Dada, Beth."
"Mama dance." Beth said again.
Puck furrowed his eyebrows.
"I've been teaching her to say dance since Rachel announced the Sadie Hawkins dance." Quinn informed Puck. "She just got it today."
"Good job, B." Puck nodded. "Say it again."
"Mama dance." Beth grinned.
Puck smiled proudly.
"Noah." Quinn said. "Will you go to the dance with me?"
