"Hey." Jake said as he walked over to Quinn.
"Hey." Quinn smiled.
"Mind if I join you?" Jake asked.
"Sure." Quinn replied.
Jake nodded and sat down beside Quinn. He took a deep breath and looked at her.
"There's something I need to tell you."
"Everything okay?" Quinn wondered.
"Y-Yeah." Jake stuttered. "Totally. I just... I've been thinking about this for a while."
Quinn furrowed her eyebrows.
"I really like spending time with you." Jake blurted. "As your friend, but I've also come to realize that I have feelings for you. I care about you."
Quinn's eyes widened, surprise evident. "Jake, I..."
"You don't have to say anything right now." Jake added. "I just wanted to be honest."
Quinn shifted uncomfortably. "I really appreciate that, but I... Things are so complicated. Noah just got home, and we're trying to figure things out and..."
Jake bit his lip and nodded slowly. "I'm sorry."
"I'm sorry." Quinn apologized. "Everything's so complicated."
"Complicated how?" Jake asked, a mix of frustration and confusion in his tone.
"I'm sorry if I gave you the wrong impression, Jake." Quinn apologized again. "But I don't see you like that, and I don't want anyone getting hurt."
"Neither do I." Jake noted. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable."
"You didn't. I just... I know we've gotten close over the past few years, but I didn't expect this." Quinn stated.
Jake nodded, and the pair sat in silence for a moment.
"I'm gonna turn in." Quinn decided as she got up. "I'll see you in the morning."
"See you."

Quinn entered the kitchen slowly, closing the backdoor behind her.
Puck looked up as Quinn entered, sensing her unease.
"What's up?" Puck wondered.
"Can I talk to you?" Quinn requested.
"Sure." Puck nodded. "I just checked on Beth. She's out cold."
"Good." Quinn nodded back as she fidgeted with her hands. "That's good."
"So what's up?" Puck questioned Quinn, glancing at her hands.
"Jake just told me he has feelings for me." Quinn informed Puck.
"What?" Puck muttered, his expression darkening as he furrowed his eyebrows. "Are you serious?"
"Yeah." Quinn admitted, biting her lip. "But I told him I don't see him like that."
Puck's demeanor shifted from confusion to anger. "So much for bro code. What the hell is he thinking?"
"I know." Quinn replied. "I don't know."
"Well, he should know better than this." Puck stated. "Things are complicated enough without him in the middle of it."
"I know." Quinn repeated with a sigh.
"Do you want me to talk to him?" Puck asked.
"Not right now." Quinn shook her head. "I still wanna talk to you."
"Are you okay?" Puck wondered.
"Yeah." Quinn answered.
"Good, 'cause you know I'd kick any guy's ass for you." Puck reminded Quinn. "Even if that guy is my brother."
Quinn laughed lightly, feeling the tension fade. "I know you would, if you had to."
"If I had to." Puck said in agreement. "You said you wanted to talk some more?"
"Yeah." Quinn responded. "Since you've been back, I've been thinking about our family. Beth. And us."
Puck nodded, following along.
"I don't wanna complicate things between us." Quinn clarified. "Especially not if it hurts Beth, but you're important to me. And I still care about you."
"I care about you, too." Puck said. "A lot."
Quinn smiled slightly, though it faded as Jake entered.
"Sorry, I thought you went to bed." Jake muttered.
Puck looked at Jake. "Good, I wanna talk to you."
"Noah." Quinn said. "Why don't we finish our conversation?"
Puck looked at Quinn. "We can finish it upstairs in five minutes."
Quinn gave Puck a look, and Puck nodded slowly.
"Okay." Quinn gave in. She leaned close to Puck to whisper in his ear. "Easy."
"Night." Puck said, watching as Quinn walked away.
