"Everywhere we go, she gets hit on." Puck muttered, watching Quinn as he sipped his beer.
"Just relax." Finn advised Puck, following his gaze. "She can do what she wants. You guys are broken up."
"Yeah." Puck said, his eyes glued to Quinn. "It doesn't mean I have to like it."
"Didn't you break up with her?" Finn asked.
Puck shook his head.
"She broke up with you?!" Finn exclaimed. "Why?"
Puck shrugged and took another swig of his drink. He continued watching Quinn and the guy who had approached her.
"Wanna go somewhere else?" Finn suggested.
Puck paused for a moment. "Should I go over there?"
"No." Finn replied. "Don't be the crazy ex-boyfriend. Save the protectiveness for when Beth starts dating."
"Beth's never allowed to date." Puck noted. "But look at Quinn. She needs my help."
"No she doesn't." Finn insisted.
"We have a signal." Puck added. "And I swear I just saw it."
"I didn't see anything." Finn said.
"Alright." Puck nodded as he got up. "I'm gonna go smoke."
"I'll keep an eye on Quinn." Finn promised.
"I didn't ask you to."
-
When Puck came back inside, he saw the guy had returned to Quinn and was getting handsy and aggressive. He didn't see Finn, so there was nobody to stop him from going over to help.
"Hey." Puck said, pulling the guy away from Quinn. "Why don't you leave her alone?"
"Take a hike, pal. We're just having fun, and I have dibs on her."
Puck didn't even reply to the dibs comment. He was about to beat the guy, but Quinn slapped him across the face.
"Crazy bitch." The guy muttered before walking away with his hand on his cheek.
"I swear, some people just don't get it." Quinn said. "Can't a girl enjoy a night out without being bothered?"
"You're way too good for losers like that," Puck replied.
"Yeah." Quinn laughed lightly, the tension of the moment fading. "But who says you get to be my protector? We're not together anymore, remember?"
"Doesn't mean I can't look out for you," Puck countered.
"Thanks." Quinn said. "I appreciate it. But I can fight my own battles."
"I know you can," Puck replied. "But, you know."
Quinn looked at Puck, her expression shifting. "Are you still upset about how things ended between us?"
"Yeah." Puck shrugged. "I just wish there was something else I did or could've done in our relationship to prove to you that I was in it like you were."
"It's just... it's complicated." Quinn noted.
"I miss us." Puck said softly. "Even if we can't be together and are just co-parenting. I miss us as friends."
Quinn paused and nodded slowly. "I miss that, too. Sometimes it's just too hard."
Puck furrowed his eyebrows.
Before Quinn could elaborate, Finn approached, looking a bit sheepish. "There you guys are. Everything okay?"
"Yeah." Quinn nodded. "Just had a little run-in with a creepy guy. Noah handled it."
"Cool." Finn nodded back, looking from Quinn to Puck. "Then let's just enjoy the rest of the night."
"Yeah." Puck agreed, forcing a smile. "Next round's on me."
