He paused as he waited for a response but he didn't hear anything back so he nervously continued speaking inside his mind.

“I understand if you wouldn't give me that honor. I did terrible things… so many unforgivable sins… I know I don't deserve her and there is nothing I could give or do to deserve her but I truly love your Celestial Daughter with all of my mind, heart, and soul! I… I want to marry her and make her my wife! I want to become her husband, her companion, her… official mate. May I… May I… have your blessing?”

He paused once again to listen to any reaction but only silence greeted him. He began to doubt whether someone was truly on the other line hearing his thoughts but he didn't stop. He could not pass up this rare opportunity to speak and convince the only being who could grant his heart’s true desire.

“Great Creator… Sire… Please… I beg you! I truly love Psi! I will love her forever! Or at least, as long as I have life, I will love her! Please…  I want to be with her! I want to become her official mate! In every lifetime, I want to be with her!”

The link was still silent for a considerable amount of time until finally, someone laughed heartily and responded.

“You should be careful what you wish for. Don't let her alluring appearance, charming voice, and graceful behavior fool you. I am warning you… She can be dangerous, mischievous, jealous, and rebellious.”

The sudden reply and unexpected warning caught him off guard for a moment but he immediately recovered with renewed vigor and hope.

“Regardless, I still love her, like her, want her, need her! Sire, I wish to become her official mate! Please… Please unite the two of us! I implore you to give me your blessing to be with her… always and forever!” 

He poured all of his heart and soul in convincing the Creator. If he would not be able to convince this powerful being, then he will never achieve happiness in his next life…

“Just so you know what you're getting yourself into. She has her own ways of doing things. She will never blindly follow you. She attracts men and trouble easily. She will never admit it but she is an extremist when it comes to a relationship and marriage. She would definitely and endlessly demand loyalty and fidelity from her mate. You know what that means, right? You cannot fool around anymore… And to tell you frankly, I have a very strict policy about official mates… No return, no exchange!”

“Yes! Yes! Yes! I am very willing! I will love only her! So… it's a yes?” He happily and excitedly asked.

“Only if she chose you over your nephew.  You see, she has been planning to communicate with me about your nephew’s same request…”

“Sire… please… I will do anything… I truly love her! I can't live another lifetime without her…”

“Hmmm, you were a pretty impressive high roller in your prime years, wanna bet your life… No, your very existence?”

He should be scared but he isn't. Most people are scared to perish but he was no longer one of those people. 

“High stake means high prize… If it means I can be with her in every lifetime, then it's a big yes!!!”

“Remember this, it's not up to you. It's up to her. Whether you win or lose is up to her… And losing means you cease to exist. You can still back out and be reborn just like any other human at the right time.”

He didn't care what would happen to him if he lost, living without her was worse than death anyway so he decided to bet everything.

“Sire… Thank you for your kindness. I want to do it. I want her to decide my fate… our fate…”

Prince Anders opened his eyes. The vision he saw under the sea made his heart beat faster! It was so dark under the turbulent water but great hope instantly blossomed inside his heart. 

I… am... here… I'm still here… That means… I won the… bet?! Then that also means she… she… she chose me!!!!

His mouth opened in shock and he accidentally gulped salty water again. This time, he was filled with vigor and motivation to survive! He rapidly swam back to the surface and when he breathed air once again, it felt like he saw the light and was reborn! He coughed up most of the fluid he ingested.

He used this new inspiration to swim to the nearest floating object and used it for survival. He saw little dots of lights in the distance so he swam towards it with all of his might. He grinned when he was already near the land and got a hold of a rope tied to a mooring. He used it to pull himself out of the water and step on a familiar dock.

Who would have thought the storm helped me arrived here one week earlier.

He smiled widely but it instantly faded when several soldiers surrounded him and pointed long deadly spears at his throat.

Someone in the distance shouted, “Prince Anders of Sky Empire, you are under arrest for failed assassination and rape attempt!!!”
