Ruma spent the better part of her day mingling and searching out. Some refused out right to even look at her, she would just have to make herself more known for that night she made herself just seem approachable, and did nothing to even hint at her plans. She couldn't risk even the slightest idea of displeasement ring in their minds.
She was quick to change from her outfit and back into her own. Then jogged back as swiftly as she could to her quarters. She walked in to the whole place being dark, and could hear some snoring coming from both bedrooms. She assumed that everyone else was asleep. Which was something everyone was doing alot of lately, as every little thing seemed to drain them.
"Momma" she heard Kaylo's voice in the dark. She quickly flipped on the lights to see her youngest, sitting at the table drenched in tears.
"Kylo? What happened?" She pulled the door to the quarters shut, and walked over to him. As always she checked him for signs of physical injuries. She didn't see anything. He turned his head back over the table and shook it. So Ruma grabbed a chair and pulled it up close to him, as she dried his eyes and cleaned up his face a bit with her sleeve. She sat there for a while just watching him, as he just mindlessly stared at the glass of water.
"Would you like to tell me whats wrong?"He shook his head.
"I won't make you, I wish you would though"
Kylo looked up at her. Then down at her stomach before moving back to look at the glass, this time he started fiddling with the lip, rolling his finger around until it started making a ringing sound.
Ruma couldn't do much for him except watch him play with the new found instrument. SO she stood. "Have you eaten?"
He once again shook his head. He glanced to the side when he saw her hands begin to move.
"I'll make us something."
He didn't respond as he wasn't looking at her. She sighed, her throat was hurting from all the use it had that night, it had been forever since she actually used it, and not just forced noises and partical wording.
Ruma checked her boys room; saw them sound asleep in each others arms she came back. In a low voice as she started to grab the rations that they were given, "You know, I can't communicate well if you don't look at me." she moved and flipped on the stove.
Kylo's head perked up. "You can talk?"
She stayed quiet for a moment.
"Since when?"
"After I died."
Kylo's brow furrowed. He walked up to the counter and hopped up next to her where she wasn't working. He waited for her to look up. "I never asked about that."
"It was when the compound was raided." she flipped the water on to flipp up a pot, while some was already sizzling in the pan that she place over on the stove top.
Kylo bite his lower lip as he thought. "I guess that was probably right before I met Tyklyn then?"
Ruma shrugged. "I suppose so, Kylo."
"Yes?"
"I have to ask you something that might bring up bad memories."
Kylo lifted a brow, "What might that be?"
Ruma sucked in a deep breath. "What did Vassenhilo do to you, after he took you from me?"Kylo tucked his legs under him. Then went to speaking. "For a while nothing. Just kept trying to place me with different females."
"Did you?"
"Yes- but as far as I was made aware there was only one pregnancy- but that pup didn't survive."
Ruma slammed the utensil in her hand down a bit harder than was expected. Cause them both to jump at the noise.
Kylo shrunk. "I'm-"
"No" Ruma hushed, and placed a free hand on his knee. "Continue"
He nodded, his eyes going a bit glassy as he spoke, but no tears fell. "It was after that, did he start dragging me in for tests. At first I could hand them, they were just blood draws, scans, things like that." he paused for a long time, looking down as he was remembering, when Ruma went to tell him he didn't have to continue. "That's when he started the experiments. Different drugs, reactions. Then the last one-" he shuttered and ran his hands through his hair. "It hurt so much, I thought dying would have been better. It was horrific. Then it just stopped, he stopped the tests, experiments, trying to fit me with a female. For a while, and then I'd have episodes of pain- the same as Deon, when you first came back, where he couldn't move, and it just hurt. I think he must have redone the experiment with him. Cause it all looked the same."
Ruma kept her cool as best she could. "He told me he was going to kill you if you didn't breed, do you know of that?""I know he was trying to sell me at one point, but no he didn't try to make me do anything like that after the last experiment." Ruma stopped what she was doing and wrapped her arm around Kylo and brought him in close. Using her other hand to lace her fingers in one of his hands. Whispering, "I am so sorry. I made the promise to keep you safe back at the compound- this is me graninteeing it to you." Kylo nodded his head. "My pup-" she whimpered. They sat there until the food was done. Where Ruma fixed them both plates. She leaned back and watched him eat for a little bit before she dug into her own food. "Your pups" Kylo said. Ruma raised a brow and looked up. "The litter you had after me, that is why Vassenhilo took me. I heard him talking about it one day when I was smaller. Your trying to have another one, this time on purpose, please don't hand me back to him. I know your plan, and fair it's Vassenhilo. Just please- don't use me as a pawn in this, don't let him have me again." Ruma lost all of her appetite in those few words. "Kylo-" He didn't say anything else just looked back down and continued eating.
