A/N Hi everyone! I really don't like A/Ns before chapters but I was advised (told) to start this once in a while to interact with everyone more. Lol. So I thought it was a good time to update people on the series. I am finished writing this book 2. But I am being mean to myself and y'all and only updating a chapter a week, I may go into two updates a week ONLY of I get actual comments asking for it. And it does have to be more than one. Sorry :'C. Now with that said- I do have book 3 started and it won't get posted until book 2 is done being posted.
Now for Book 1! I am heavily editing it. I do plan on getting this story properly published at some point, but to do that editing is a must. Until the title goes back to just Selective Breeding and no (editing) than it isn't done, but I'll make a post about it.
Please leave comments! I've been getting so many votes and it makes me so so so happy, but don't forget to drop comments start discussion. I'll respond to pretty much everyone. SO ENJOY AND THANK YOU FOR STAYING WITH ME FOR THIS LONG.
Ruma felt like everything was crumbling like she was losing before she began fighting.
"Ruma," Ratok grabbed her arm. "Finish telling us what you were going to. Than go after your son."
She nodded "I am tired of being the obedient pet."
"Bout fucking time." Deon chimed.
Ruma shot him a skull splitting glare.
"I'll be quiet." He crossed his arms and sat back.
"I have an idea but with no plan. I want to keep us safe from everything, the experiments, the breeding program, Vassenhilo. The dark trades."
"That is a lot Ruma, especially with how valuable of an asset you are." Ratok said. "You may never be able to run away and be safe from everything."
"I have to try."
Deon pipped. "What if. Instead of running away you climb up the chain?"
"Deon-" Ratok began to scowl.
"No, no. He might have something" Ruma pulled into herself to think. Maybe Bvlepio was onto something. She did most things for the compound. "Maybe I could take over the projects''
"Don't you dare think about overthrowing Vassenhilo. He is too dangerous, you'll land yourself in a worse position. He aforesaid you, leave it at that." Ratok said angrily, with fear laced deep into his voice.
"Look at you Ratok." Ruma sat down on the bed. "Look at what he has done to you, to Deon. I don't want to think about what he did to Kaylo or my other children, or what he is planning for Tyklyn. But that's the thing. I haven't been thinking I've been shoving my thoughts so far from my head that I have just been idling through the years. I'm tired Ratok,. I'm breaking. I'm broken. I just want my family, I want to stop feeling like a monster for every death that happens for every new baby born into this compound. I'm tired of longing for a baby and when I get one they are ripped from my hands for the use of coins in someone else's pocket."
Ratok sighed. "It's not safe what you're thinking of doing."
"It's safe, or my life."
Deon watched. "Ratok. Please listen to her. We don't have to move fast; this might take years. But an attempt."
"Deon, why are you even okay with this idea?" Ratok snapped over.
"Because I want to walk the halls and feel safe, I want to be intimate with Ruma and not fear her getting pregnant and watching the life get crushed out of her. I want to hold her and not imagine someone else forcing themselves on me. I want to walk alone outside and not fear a deranged scientist is going to pop up behind me and drag me into a dark room and torture me."
Everyone went silent for a while. Anger, guilt, sadness swelled between them all.
Ruma patted Ratok to get his attention. "I'm not trying to go head first with no plan. I can't do this alone, or even with half a team. I need you to believe in me, and be with me in this."
"Ruma." Ratok whispered. "Please. Just think about this for a while."
"The Gala"
"What about it?" Ratok questioned.
"I'll sit and think on it and our options until the Gala."
Ratok grimace. Then nodded "Alright. I'll back you. And whatever you decide to do. I promise." He waved her closer to him. Giving her a soft kiss. "Now go check on your son. Tell him your hair brained idea, he might not be so angry afterwards."
Ruma nodded and headed out.
Ratok sat with Deon.
"What exactly happened to you while I was out?" Ratok turned his head to ask Deon.
Deon swallowed. "Carma. She tried to have me."
"Have?" Ratok took a moment to calculate the words. "Oh. Deon I'm so sorry."
"She didn't get too far. Ruma came in." He started rubbing his wrists from where he was tied. "I just. I'm okay."
"You don't have to be." Ratok placed his hand on Deon's back and rubbed his hand back and forth.
Deon nodded, moving his chair closer to Ratok but not saying anything else.
