chapter 2•

billie pov:

the door shoots open "up here" i shout as i hear footsteps sprinting up the stairs

they all come into rivers room and i nod my head to pauls room for my dad to check

finneas follows him and my mom stays with us taking river from my arms, as river flops into my mom i run into pauls room and look at my dad

"what do we do" i lightly cry "we call 911" he says turning white "what about river" finneas says "she stays with us" my dads demands

my dad calls 911 and they come in and take the body as river runs from her room to ambulance
"ma'am i have to ask you to stay away" "thats my dad" she screams "im sorry but we have to take him alone" she kicks her dads car wheel "fuck you" she screams, sobbing

"river" i say calmly "thats my dad billie, my dad" she says turning to me as tears roll down her cheeks and her hands ball up into a fist "i know but they have to take him riv" "i need to call my mom"

river always kept her moms number but never called her since she left which was 4 years ago

as she picks her phone out her pocket she drops it "fuck" she shouts and sits on the floor

river pov:

how do i call my mom, how can i tell her this like shes going to care she has a new family with a new husband while we are here well im here now...

billie hands me my phone open ready to press my moms number i take it from her and press it

"hello?" i stay silent after not hearing her voice in forever "who is this" i snap back "river" "hi sweetie" the audacity... "dad has passed" i say without giving it a second thought, silence for around 2 minutes until i hear "ill get the next flight rivs it will be around tomorrow" "whatever" i end the call

i walk back into my house and head to my fathers room just laying on his bed

billie comes up as her family left to deal with the paperwork as my mom isnt here to do so "i just want to be alone bils" "if you think id leave you here your crazy" she says she mustve tried to lighten the mood as billie does but unfortunately it didnt work

she grabs my hand and i look at her and take a deep breath "i want to stay here and not move forever" "your coming with us wether you like it or not you cant stay here your 15 you need to be looked after"

"i can i know how to cook" "anything else" "no"

my phone pings 'ashley' thats my mom

billie picks it up "she said, shes got a flight she lands here tonight" my heart sinks i havent seen her in almost 5 years what if i dont recognise her

"i dont even want her here" i say taking a deep breath "i know but shes your mom river she has to be here for your dad" i scoff "but she left why does she care its just stupid she left us here 4 years ago hasnt bothered to reach out she got remarried had two kids and left us behind"

billie pulls me into a hug and whispers "itll all be okay riv"

so short chapter because i want the mom to appear to make it interesting hehe 😜
