Chapter 52 - Vengeful Killings Pt. 7

Gyoe, Ruby, Velvet, and Caleb are walking through the cave. Seeing a light in the distance. 

Caleb collapses to the floor, clutching his head. 

Gyoe: You okay? 

Caleb: It... it doesn't like being here. It's taking everything in me to hold it back. 

Gyoe looks at Ruby and Velvet. 

Gyoe: Go get the vial. I don't know if he'll get to it like this. 

Both of the girl nods before running ahead. 

Caleb slowly starts standing back up, twitching and gritting his teeth. Letting out a yell. 

Caleb: I can't... I'm... I'm sorry...

Caleb violently twitches before phasing into the shadow figure with red eyes. 

Grabbing and throwing Gyoe into the wall, dropping to the ground as the shadow goes running after Ruby and Velvet. 

Ruby and Velvet come running into the main chamber. Seeing the pedestal with the Dark Vial on it. A waterfall streaming down into a river that surrounds the pedestal on sides except for the front of it. Bushes and flowers growing out of the grass on either side. 

They come walking up to the pedestal. Ruby carefully reaches toward and grabs the Vial, picking it up. 

A vicious growl is heard behind them. Looking back to see the Shadow Figure speeding toward them with no time to react. It hits Velvet with a punch, sending her flying into the wall off to the side.

Turning its attention to Ruby, the Shadow Figure quickly pushes and pins her to the wall. A dagger forming in its hand. It thrusts the dagger at her, freezing right before the tip of it penetrates her stomach. 

Twitching before phasing back into Caleb. Gritting his teeth and straining. Ruby takes the opportunity to shove the Dark Vial into his mouth, forcing him to drink it. 

He stumbles backward as a white light surrounds him. A white light then flashes over him before he goes flying forward, hitting and tumbling across the ground. In his place stands the Shadow Figure. 

Ruby comes running over to Caleb, putting her hand on his shoulder, and a big smile grows on her face. He's rubbing his face, noticing that she's physically touching him, looking down at his hands. Smiling when he notices he can't see through it. 

That's when their attention is brought to the Shadow Figure, hearing it growling at them. 

It thrusts its hand out at them, sending them both flying into the wall, dropping to the ground with a thud. 

Velvet comes crawling toward the figure, eyeing Gyoe as he comes running toward it. 

The figure notices him, immediately thrusting his hand out, pulling Gyoe's neck straight into its grasp. 

It speaks in a distorted voice. 

Shadow Figure: You... annoy me...

Little does the Figure know, Gyoe flicked the disc off to Velvet, and she pushes it onto its shoulder. Its grip immediately loosens, releasing Gyoe as it stumbles backward. Yelling out in a distorted voice as the disc begins absorbing it. 

Looking between all of them with its red glowing eyes, its gaze falling on Caleb, reaching out to him. Right before the last bit of it gets absorbed into the disc, dropping to the ground with a clink. 

Gyoe picks it up before running over to Caleb, picking him up and pulling him into a hug. Tears flowing from his eyes. 

Gyoe: It's so good to have you back...

Caleb: And it's good to be back. 

Now back at Beacon Academy, the four of them are standing in Ozpin's office with him and Glynda. 

Ozpin: Caleb Sieks... it is so good to see you back in a physical form. 

Caleb: Well, I can't tell you how good it feels to be alive again. I no longer have to see through myself. It... I'm just glad I got a second chance. 

Glynda: Now let's hope this chance isn't taken from you as well. 

She subtly glances between Ruby and Velvet. 

Ozpin: Which... brings up a very important question. One that I won't blame you if denied. Will you stay here at Beacon? 

Caleb lets out a deep breath. 

Caleb: I've thought about it a little. There's always going to be a small resentment toward those responsible, and I may not entirely forgive all of them, but... Beacon is still where I want to be. I still want to be a Huntsman. 

Ozpin: Then we will take every necessary precaution. That fate won't befall you a second time. 

Ruby: Don't worry. Velvet and I will watch over you. Right?

She smiles playfully at him before glancing over at Velvet. 

Velvet: Of course. 

Now outside of the cafeteria, Caleb is staring at the door. Gyoe putting his hand on his shoulder. 

Ruby: You got this. We're right there with you. 

Velvet: Nobody will get close to you if you don't want them to. 

Gyoe: They're right. We won't mind playing personal bodyguards. 

He nods at all three of them before taking a deep breath, looking back at the doors. Walking toward them, being followed by the others.

Now back at Incrid Village, Ariah comes walking through the Town Hall, placing his hand against the wall behind the podium. A secret compartment opens up, revealing dozens of discs. He places the disc carefully inside the compartment before sealing it again. 

He then exits the Town Hall, unknowingly being watched by a guy wearing a brown cloak. Smiling as he watches Ariah walk away.
