Kevin was in the locker room, getting ready for the morning training session. He could feel the energy in the room, a mix of anticipation and camaraderie, but he was also keenly aware of the teasing looks being thrown his way by Edson and Uriel. They had been relentless for the past few days, ever since they had caught wind of the fact that Kevin was spending a lot of time with someone new.
"Entonces, Kevin," Edson began, not even trying to hide the smirk on his face as he leaned against his locker. "¿Cuándo nos la vas a presentar?"
Kevin tried to maintain his composure, focusing on tying his shoelaces. But an image of Isa made the corners of his lips twitch, despite his best efforts. He was determined not to let them know how much their teasing was affecting him.
Jorge, who was sitting a few lockers down, joined in. "Sí, ¿por qué tanto misterio, Álvarez? Queremos conocer a la afortunada."
Kevin kept his head down, thinking quickly. "No es nada, en serio. Sólo amigos," he replied, hoping his nonchalant tone would throw them off. But the grin tugging at his mouth was getting harder to control.
Edson wasn't convinced. He crossed his arms, narrowing his eyes at Kevin. "¿Quién más la conoce? ¿Isa la conoce?"
Kevin paused for a fraction of a second before nodding. "Sí, Isa la conoce," he admitted, keeping his voice steady.
"Perfecto, entonces le preguntaremos a Isa," Edson said, his grin widening as he noticed Kevin's reaction. "Porque tú no sueltas nada," he added, a mock pout on his face.
Kevin couldn't help but laugh, shrugging his shoulders in response. "No sé de qué hablas, no hay nada que contar," he insisted, trying to steer the conversation away.
Uriel leaned in closer, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "No mientas, Kevin. Tus ojos brillan cada vez que mencionamos a Isa. ¿Seguro que no es ella la 'misteriosa'?"
Kevin immediately put on a serious face, hoping to convince them otherwise. "Nada que ver, Isa es mi mejor amiga," he said firmly, and for a moment, it seemed like they might actually believe him. Little did they know that the truth was much more complicated, especially after last night.
As the guys finished changing, they continued to rib Kevin about the "mystery girl," but he managed to deflect most of their questions with vague answers and good-natured laughs. Finally, they were ready to head out onto the field.
Uriel and Edson were still by Kevin's side as they walked out of the locker room, refusing to let the topic go. "Venga, Kevin, dinos al menos si es guapa," Uriel pressed, nudging him playfully.
Kevin smirked, finally giving them something. "Guapa es quedarse corto," he said, his voice carrying a hint of pride that he couldn't quite hide. The image of Isa, with her teasing smile and sparkling eyes, flashed in his mind, making it even harder to keep his cool.
Edson raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Entonces, ¿cuándo la vamos a conocer? No puedes esconderla para siempre," he joked.
Kevin chuckled, shaking his head. "Veremos, veremos," he replied, leaving it at that.
As they exited the tunnel and stepped onto the field, Kevin's eyes immediately sought out Isa. She was standing by the benches, talking with one of the staff members. When she noticed him, she waved, and Kevin couldn't help but wave back, his heart doing a little flip at the sight of her.
Edson, noticing the interaction, jogged over to her, leaving Kevin and Uriel behind. "¡Isa!" Edson greeted her with a big smile, wrapping her in a tight hug. "¿Qué haces aquí? Deberías estar descansando," he said, his voice full of concern.
