Jay leant on the bar defeated as he slowly drank his whiskey and coke. He looked at the time it was 9pm.
Only 9pm, he thought he couldn't go home now, he had promised the boys he'd go on this stupid date, with a girl he'd been talking on an app. They pushed him into it, he hated dates, he hated the app. But no they had to push him with the comments of
'Cmon mate you've been single for years you need to get back out there'
'Do you not want a relationship?'
He couldn't go face going back to the house now, with them all asking what happened and if he had a second date.
And then there was his mother, she had been really hinting about wanting grandchildren lately and he had been single for five years, so unless there was a form of immaculate conception he didn't know about the chances are it would be very unlikely. He sighed sadly why was dating so hard.

He then heard a familiar voice "oh my god Jay?!" said the female voice. There stood his old friend Julia "oh my god mate hi!" he smiled as she hugged him, he hugged back tightly. He'd always thought of her as a sister "dude it's so good to see you what are you doing here?" she beamed excitedly but slightly drunk "what in the USA or in this bar?" he laughed "both?" she asked "in the states making more music" he said "yes! Amazing!!" she said "and here uh avoiding going home, just been on the most awkward horrific date and don't want to face the millions of questions from the lads" he said before sipping his drink.
She laughed "still the same Jay huh?" she said "yeah hopelessly in love" he sighed as he leant back on the bar "so why was the date so bad?" she asked "she told me her life's dream was to be a kardashian. Like cmon it's not biologically possible and the she began telling me the conspiracy theory about how Kim didn't make the bar cause she knew too much and somehow Taylor Swift was involved in getting her rejected from it and that Kim Kardashian was so smart but she knew too much" he said swiftly "ooohf don't bad mouth Tay Tay round you huh?" she laughed "damn straight. Taylor Swift has more talent in her pinky finger than that girl ever will" he said.
Julia laughed "gee shots fired dude! How did you meet this riveting lady?" she teased "uh tinder. Max told me I needed to get out there. Well I'm out and I want to go back in" he retorted.

Julia chuckled and shook her head "what brings you out?" she asked leaning on the bar "oh just out with some friends and the hubby! You should join us!" she smiled pointing to the table in the corner, he smiled "I'm not crashing your night, thankyou though. I'm gonna go back to the house, put Netflix on and think about how much I hate dating" he said taking the final gulp of his drink. Julia put her hand on his shoulder "Nooo dude it's just after 9 you can't go home! I haven't seen you in years. Please one drink, a few of my friends are single" she said trying to persuade him.  He groaned "please one of my friends is just your type aswell! She's cute, blonde, ceo of a charity! Like cmon dude! Pretty please" she said getting her phone and showing him a picture.

He looked at the picture. She was really attractive he thought, he surrendered putting his hands up "Okay she's pretty" he said defeated "and you both hate doing first dates so you can bond over that" she said "I dunno J" he said exasperated.
The barman then walked over "four Proseccos, two beers and one whiskey and coke and 7 vodka shots please good squire" she said and turned to him "I bought you a drink too so you have to stay" she laughed "oooh got me on technicalities. I taught you well dude" he smiled "how long has it been since you abandoned me to go back to the UK" she smiled "ahh a while like 2017?" he said "dude wow...long time and I'm sorry to hear about Tom by the way he was the best dude" she smiled "thanks J yeah he was one of the good ones" he smiled remembering his band mate who had passed away from cancer three years ago.

"You gonna help me with these or what?"she asked giving him the tray "oh so now it's butler service aswell" he joked "yeah pretty much your the man" she said "that's sexism" he laughed "well what can I say" she said "unbelievable" he said before carrying the tray over.
