A/N: Really sorry to update this book so late, but I'll be binding it up  by the 65th chapter, my exams got over just last month <3

Starts in the same place, but next scene

Shuang led Xie Lian and the twins to her room, the small space filled with the light scent of jasmine tea. The room was simple, with a single bed pushed against one wall and a small table in the corner.

Shuang motioned for Xie Lian to sit down on the bed, gesturing for the twins to come closer.

The twins toddled over to where Xie Lian was sitting, and he scooped them up onto his lap with ease. They snuggled against him, their little bodies warm and comforting.

Shuang sat down on the bed across from Xie Lian, her eyes fixed on the twins. A small smile tugged at her lips as she watched them squirm in Xie Lian's lap.

"They're adorable," she said, her voice soft and warm. "They look so much like you and brother cheng."

Xie Lian smiled at her words, a mixture of pride and fondness filling his chest. "Thank you," he said, his voice filled with emotion. "They're very dear to us."

Shuang sighed, her eyes shining with memories. "I used to hope and pray that one day you'd both bring a child home," she said, her voice filled with fondness. "I always wanted to have a niece or nephew to spoil and play with."

Xie Lian smiled at Shuang's words, feeling a pang of nostalgia himself. "You used to pray for that?" he asked, his voice full of warmth.

Xie Lian smiled, touched by Shuang's reminiscing. "I remember those days," he said, his voice fond. "You used to follow us around, pleading with us to bring home a child for you to play with."

Shuang laughed softly, her gaze faraway. "I was so young and carefree back then," she said, her voice tinged with nostalgia. "I spent all my time playing, not realizing how quickly that time would pass."

Xie Lian watched as Shuang's mind seemed to drift back to her childhood memories. He could see the mixture of nostalgia and longing in her eyes, and he couldn't help but feel a bit of sadness at the sight.

"You were such a cheeky little thing back then," he teased, his voice gentle. "Always demanding our attention and insisting on tagging along wherever we went."

Shuang smiled at Xie Lian's words, her eyes sparkling with humor. "I was a handful, wasn't I?" she admitted, a hint of laughter in her voice. "I was never satisfied with just playing alone. I always wanted to be wherever you and brother cheng were."

Shuang smirked and added "Remember that time in night—" Xie Lian coughed out loud.

Xie Lian's eyes widened as Shuang smirked and mentioned an incident from their shared past. He knew exactly what she was about to bring up, and quickly interrupted her by letting out a loud cough.

"Ah... That time," Xie Lian said, his cheeks reddening slightly. "I'd rather forget about that particular incident, if I'm being honest..."

Xie Lian and Shuang's eyes widened at the sudden interruption, and they both turned towards the source of the voice.

Standing in the doorway was Hua Cheng, his arms crossed over his chest and a sly smirk on his face.

"Brother Cheng!" Shuang exclaimed, her eyes widening in surprise. "I didn't know you were listening!"

Hua Cheng raised an eyebrow, feigning innocence. "Who, me?" he asked, his voice dripping with false innocence.

Xie Lian couldn't help but roll his eyes at his husband's antics. He knew all too well that Hua Cheng had been eavesdropping on their conversation, waiting for the perfect moment to intervene.
