They Talk About You in a Band Interview (Michael)

It's just another average interview, nothing new they haven't done before. Except this time, the other three guys know something that Michael doesn't know. They know that the right time to bring it up will come at some point and when it does, Michael will be so embarrassed, but the guys know that they'll be doing him a favor, and he'll thank them later.

The interview goes on until the man asks them all, "So I know you're pretty busy with being on tour and doing interviews like this one, but when you're not doing something for the band, do any of you have a special lady friend waiting for you back home?" They all look at each other and before anyone says anything, the man asks Calum if he does. When he says no, the man asks Ashton and Luke too and they say no. He then asks Michael last.

"No, I don't" is Michael's response. The others turn to each other chuckling. "What? I don't." Michael says, trying to hint at them to go along with it. They don't play along; it's part of their plan.

"Yeah sure, Mikey." Calum says sarcastically.

"I'm serious, I'm not interested in anyone." Michael retorts trying to get them to stop where he knows this is going.

"Oh yeah? Not even Y/N?" Ashton questions dragging out your name. Michael's eyes widen.

"Um..who is Y/N?" the interviewer asks confused.

Michael knew very well who you were. You were his best girl friend that he's known since birth. You both grew up playing outside and playing video games together and you went to school together every year. After knowing each other your whole lives, there is nothing unknown between you. You're as close as two people can get.

When 5SOS was invited to open up for One Direction on their Take Me Home Tour, you two came to the realization that you would be away from each other for quite some time. The whole week before he left, you spent every moment you could with him. And it was the night before he left that Michael finally figured out he had a crush on you.

You were lying out under the stars in his backyard like you do whenever you're together at night and the sky is clear. You got lucky that there was a clear sky on his last night in town. You were looking up at the stars trying to find constellations when Michael stopped talking. He had turned his head to look over at you and saw the way you were looking up in wonder at the beautiful sight above you.

Noticing the silence, you then turned your head to face him, and asked "What is it?" When you looked into his eyes, his heart leaped for the first time, and he knew. But instead of telling you, he answered, "I just realized how much I'm gonna miss you when I'm gone." You then hugged and went back inside, spending the rest of the night playing video games.

The next morning, Michael left and it was extremely hard being away from you now that he knew about his crush. However throughout all of the time over the next few years that he was away, his crush on you never went away. He told his bandmates pretty early on and they swore they would keep it a secret. That is, until they found out that you felt the same.

It was a total accident that you found out. It was a month ago when they were all back home for a little bit. You and they were hanging out and when Michael left the room, you all got to talking and it just kind of slipped out. But to their relief, you said that you've had a crush on Michael for a while but figured he wouldn't ever see you that way.

From then on, the guys planned with you how to get the truth to come out so that you two could be together. Luke remembered the interview that is happening today and knew there would be some way to fit it in there, and it turns out there was. And Michael was clearly embarrassed when it happened. He finally answered the interviewer after what felt like eternity but was only a second or two.

"She's uh...she's my best friend from back home." he says sticking to his guns.

"Aaaaand?" Luke drags out. Michael gives in knowing they won't give up until he tells the truth.

"And I really like her too." he says looking down starting to blush.

"I like you, Mikey." you say through Calum's phone. No one noticed until now that Calum had his phone out since this girl talk started. Michael's head whips to the side towards the phone.

Y/N??" he questions surprised, "You've been here and... you guys knew and... What is going on?!" Michael frantically says, confused and embarrassed.

Everyone laughs and you say, "Mikey, relax. About a month ago, it slipped out that you like me, and so I thought it was safe to tell them I like you too. Then we planned this out to finally get everything out in the open. And now literally everybody knows!"

Michael smiles at this news but then says, "Well if you liked me before, why didn't you ever tell me?"

"Honestly I didn't think you could see me as more than your best friend." you admit.

"Y/N, that's what makes you the perfect fit for my girlfriend. I want my girlfriend and best friend to be the same person. It just sucks that it took us this long to finally come together." he says and you laugh.

"Okay, this is all very touching but we should probably finish out this interview now." the interviewer says.

You both reluctantly hang up and the interview resumes. It felt amazing for Michael to know that you felt the same and that when he came home next, he would be able to reunite with you as not only his best friend, but his girlfriend and he can't wait to see what exactly this change will bring for the two of you in the future.
