By the time the movie ended, Boruto and Himawari were so caught up in their playful banter that they didn't notice Sarada had already fallen asleep, her head resting peacefully on Boruto's chest. The soft bed, cozy blanket, and especially Boruto's warmth had lulled her into a deep, peaceful slumber. Her breathing was steady, and for a moment, everything seemed perfect.
As the credits rolled on the screen, Boruto looked down and smiled at the sight of Sarada's serene expression, completely unaware of the world around her. “Looks like someone enjoyed the movie,” he whispered softly, gently brushing a stray hair from her forehead.
“Aw, she looks so cute like this!” Himawari said, leaning in closer to get a better look. “I think she really needed this nap.”
Boruto nodded, but a flicker of concern crossed his face as he felt Sarada’s forehead. She still felt warm to the touch. “Hey, Hima, can you grab the thermometer?” he asked, his voice low to avoid waking her.
“Sure!” Himawari jumped up and dashed out of the room, returning a moment later with the thermometer in hand. Boruto carefully placed Sarada’s head on a soft pillow, ensuring she was comfortable, before taking her temperature.
As he watched the numbers rise on the device, worry began to creep in. “Come on, come on...” he muttered under his breath, praying for a lower number.
When the thermometer beeped, he glanced at the reading, and his heart sank. “Still feverish,” he said, frustration bubbling beneath the surface. “This is getting ridiculous. Why won’t it go down?”
Himawari frowned, feeling the weight of Boruto's concern. “Maybe we should wake her up and get her some medicine?” she suggested hesitantly.
Boruto shook his head, looking down at Sarada’s peaceful face. “No, I don’t want to disturb her. She looks so tired, and she needs her sleep.” He sighed, running a hand through his hair. “I just wish she would take better care of herself.”
Himawari placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. “She’s too selfless for her own good, just like you said. But we can keep an eye on her while she sleeps. If she wakes up, we can make her take the medicine then.”
“Yeah, you’re right.” Boruto relaxed a bit, knowing that having Himawari there made the situation less daunting. “Let’s just make sure she’s comfortable.” He adjusted the blankets around Sarada, tucking her in a little more securely, before leaning back against the headboard with Himawari beside him.
