Later that morning, Sarada and Boruto finally made their way downstairs. Sarada walked a bit slower than usual, her legs still sore, and every now and then, she'd shoot a playful glare at Boruto, who was walking beside her with a self-satisfied smirk plastered on his face.
As they entered the kitchen, they found Hinata preparing breakfast, humming softly to herself. Naruto was already at the table, sipping his tea. Himawari, ever the morning person, sat across from her father, already halfway through her meal.
Himawari looked up, immediately noticing Sarada’s slower gait. She smirked knowingly, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "Good morning, Sarada-nee," she chirped sweetly, but there was no mistaking the teasing tone. “Didn’t sleep well?”
Sarada flushed, quickly averting her gaze as she took a seat next to Boruto. "I… I’m fine," she muttered, desperately hoping Himawari would drop it. But Boruto, being Boruto, had no intention of letting her off the hook.
“Oh, she slept fine," Boruto chimed in, his voice dripping with amusement. "Just a little sore from… you know, a long night.”
Sarada’s face turned crimson, and she kicked Boruto under the table, but the action only made her wince as the soreness shot through her legs. Boruto winced too, but quickly masked it with a laugh.
Naruto glanced between the two of them, clearly confused. "Sore? From what?" he asked innocently, completely missing the implication.
Himawari giggled, covering her mouth. "Dad, don’t worry about it," she said, sparing Sarada from further embarrassment. “Just… newlywed things.”
Sarada buried her face in her hands, wishing the ground would swallow her up. “I hate all of you,” she mumbled.
Hinata, who had been observing the scene with a knowing smile, finally intervened. “Alright, you both. Leave my poor Sarada alone,” she said, placing a plate of food in front of her. “She’s had a long few days.”
Boruto leaned closer to Sarada, whispering, “You’re not mad, right? About the teasing?” His tone was softer now, filled with affection.
Sarada peeked up at him, her expression softening. “I’ll get you back for it later,” she whispered back, though her voice held no real threat.
Boruto grinned. “Looking forward to it, princess.”
The rest of the morning passed more smoothly, with Naruto and Himawari finally easing off on the teasing. They chatted about the day ahead, Sarada feeling much more at ease now that the attention had shifted elsewhere. But every now and then, Boruto would glance her way, a playful glint in his eye, reminding her that no matter how many times she got flustered, he’d never tire of seeing her that way.
As they finished breakfast, Hinata handed Sarada a cup of tea, giving her a gentle smile. “You should take it easy today, Sarada. Don’t push yourself too hard at work.”
Sarada nodded, appreciating the concern. “Thanks, Mom. I’ll try.”
Boruto stood up, stretching before offering his hand to Sarada. “Come on, love. I’ll walk you to the office today.”
Sarada rolled her eyes playfully but accepted his hand. “You’re not going to stop teasing me, are you?”
“Never,” he said, leaning down to kiss her forehead. “But only because I love you.”
Sarada blushed, but this time she didn’t mind. She leaned into him, content in the warmth of his affection.
As they headed out, Himawari called after them, “Don’t forget to rest those legs, Sarada-nee!”
Boruto laughed while Sarada just sighed. It was going to be a long day.
