Boruto's smile faded slightly as his hand gently cupped Sarada's forehead, his fingers brushing against her warm skin. His eyes softened with concern as he felt the lingering heat, the fever still taking a toll on her despite the time they spent resting. He wished more than anything that it had gone down completely, but he was relieved to feel that it had decreased just a little bit.
"At least it's better than before..." he murmured quietly, his thumb gently stroking her temple. "But it's still pretty high, huh?"
Sarada, feeling the coolness of his touch, closed her eyes for a moment, grateful for the small comfort. "Yeah, I guess," she replied, her voice a little hoarse. She shifted slightly, nestling closer to him again, needing the warmth and safety of his embrace. "But I'm okay, Boruto... you don’t have to worry about me so much."
Boruto frowned slightly, his hand still resting on her forehead, reluctant to pull it away. "I can't help it, Sara," he said softly, his voice full of concern. "You’ve been through so much already... I just want you to get better."
Sarada opened her eyes to meet his gaze, seeing the genuine worry etched on his face. "I know you care," she whispered, her voice quiet but full of affection. "And I’m thankful for it. Really, I am."
Boruto gave her a soft, tender smile before he leaned down and kissed her forehead, just below where his hand had been. "I’ll always care, my lady," he whispered against her skin, brushing his lips softly over her temple. "And I’m not going to stop until you’re completely better, okay?"
She nodded, her heart swelling with love and appreciation. "Okay," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper. "But... you don’t need to stay by my side all the time. You have your own things to do, too."
Boruto shook his head, his expression firm. "Not when you’re sick, Sarada. Right now, my only priority is making sure you get through this. So just rest, okay? I'll be right here."
Sarada's chest tightened, touched by his words. Despite her stubbornness and her attempts to push him away, Boruto always found a way to make her feel loved and cared for in a way that no one else could. With a sigh, she closed her eyes, snuggling closer into his chest, feeling his warmth and the steadiness of his presence.
And for the first time that day, despite her lingering fever, Sarada felt peaceful. With Boruto by her side, everything would be okay.
