Part 37

As she changed into her usual attire—an oversized t-shirt with half sleeves and a pair of shorts—Sarada sat down on the bed, only to suddenly spring up as if she’d just remembered something.

Boruto raised an eyebrow, watching her with a mix of amusement and exasperation. “Now what, princess?”

Sarada glanced back at him. “I’m going to help Mom. She’s been working alone all morning, and I just can’t leave her like that.”

Boruto sighed, rubbing his forehead. There she goes again, he thought, frustration mixed with a deep affection. Sarada’s selflessness was one of the things he admired most about her, but he hated that she constantly put herself last. She was always so giving, so kind—almost too kind for a world that wasn’t always fair. And while he cherished that about her, he also worried about it. Yet he’d never really voiced those thoughts, knowing how stubborn she could be.

Standing up, he moved in front of her and placed his hands on her shoulders, gently but firmly guiding her back to sit on the bed. “You really can’t stay still for even a minute, can you, my lady?”

Sarada looked up, a little pout forming on her lips. “B-But—”

“No,” Boruto said firmly.

“But Boruto—”

“I said no. Means no,” he repeated, eyes unwavering.

“Boru—” she began again, only to be silenced when he put a finger to her lips.

“Shhh…” he cut her off smoothly, settling beside her and wrapping his arms around her small frame, holding her tightly so she couldn’t make another escape attempt. “Now,” he said, smirking, “how about we watch a movie?”

Sarada sighed in defeat, knowing how stubborn he could be once he’d made up his mind. “Fine,” she conceded, with a resigned little smile. “But I get to pick the movie.”

Boruto chuckled, leaning his forehead against hers. “Deal. But don’t pick anything too boring, or I might just fall asleep on you, princess.”

She shot him a playful glare. “Then you better be prepared to stay awake. I’ve got just the thing.”
