Days........no, it had been weeks since (Y/n) had spent her first night in Beorn's cottage; not that either of them seemed to have noticed or cared about the time that had passed, or that the huntsman's daughter was no longer cut and bruised from her running from the bear. The two having fallen into a rather pleasant routine after Beorn had gone to her father's cottage, and brought back with him some of her clothes and other items to make her stay more comfortable. The skin changer waking up early every morning to chop wood, leaving his little mouse to sleep for longer. A sudden smell of breakfast telling him that she was awake and that it was time for him to go inside. Beorn always told to go and wash, which he would do without a grumble, before he returned and sat down for his meal. (Y/n) placing a small kiss to his cheek, before she would sit down and join him. The rest of the day would see them dealing with the chores of the home, anything from the milking of the cows and goats, to tending to the gardens. (Y/n) still fascinated by the large bumblebees that would buzz around her, as if she were another flower. Then there would be the evening meal, Beorn joining her in cooking. The Beornling always laughing as she would tell him funny little stories, as the pots simmered on the stove. The sound of his own merriment something that had surprised him the first time that it had happened, given that it had been so long since he had had anything to laugh about; but given that his mouse had said that she liked it, he had promised her to laugh more often. And then, as the evening turned into the night, they would make their way to bed.......well, that was unless he had to go out for the night; Beorn still not having told her that he was a skin changer, that he was the bear that she had run in fear from. The big man just informing (Y/n) that given the news of more and more orcs in the area, he was going out to keep a look out, so he could make sure that she was safe. She seeming content with his explanation, but there still an air of concern in her voice. (Y/n) telling him that it was because she didn't want anything happening to him. That she didn't want the bear or orcs hurting him, her words, her kindness and care for his wellbeing, making him love her even more; for that was what it was........love. The sweet huntsman's daughter making him feel alive again; that there was a reason to keep going on and that he was no longer alone. And that was perhaps why he hadn't told her what he was; Beorn hating the notion of losing her because he was the creature that she feared.

"Do you have to go out tonight.........?" (Y/n) asked, as she finished with the washing up.

She hated it when he would leave her; the bed was always cold without him, and there was no one there for her to snuggle into. (Y/n) sometimes choosing to sleep in the straw with the animals so that she had some company. That, and the thought of him being hurt by the bear or a band of orcs.........no, she could not think about that; (Y/n) not sure what she would do without him. For even though it had only been a matter of weeks that they had known one another, she had come to care for the big man a great deal. In fact, if she was being perfectly truthful, it was more than care.........she was sure that she had fallen in love with Beorn.

"I must, little mouse. But you will be safe here. I will bar the door and be home in the morning before you wake up.........." (Y/n) giving him a sad smile in reply. Her heart beating a little quicker, as he placed a kiss to her forehead.

                                                          >>-------------------------------------<<

(Y/n) bid Beorn a good night, before he closed the large doors behind him. Listening as the large wooden barricade was set into place. The huntsman's daughter quickly going to grab her dark cloak; pulling it around her, before opening one of the windows. (Y/n) knowing that she could not get out of the doors......but the windows were another thing, she just able to squeeze through and drop onto the floor outside.

She knew that she should just stay inside as she normally would; that she should sit by the old oven and read as she always did on nights when Beorn would leave her. But something.........something inside her told her to follow him that night. So, that was why she was out on the grasslands that surrounded the cottage, hoping to be able to find Beorn and help him with his vigil. (Y/n) grateful that there was a full moon to light her way, as she pushed on into the forest.

It had been some time since she had last been in the trees, since she had run from the bear to be precise. She just hoping that she would not have to do that again; (Y/n) finding that she was quite liking being back in the woods. The smell of the trees, the crunch of the fallen twigs beneath her feet, feeling like home. The huntsman's daughter stopping as she got to a small clearing, her eyes closing as he turned her face to the moon and allowed the great celestial orb to bathe her in its cool light.

"Well will ya look at this..........." Her eyes flying back open as she heard the grotesque voice. Her heart in her mouth as she saw orcs coming from the trees. The scent of their rancid, misshapen forms, making her feel nauseous as they inched closer.

"What do ya fink this pretty little morsal is doin out ere all alone...........?"

"Maybe she is tanight's entertainment........I could think of a few things I could do with er.........." The first orc turning and glaring at the other that spoke, as the rest laughed mockingly.

"I saw er first. When I am done, ya can have what's left............" The two orcs squaring off; growling at one another. The thought of a possible fight appearing to distract all of them; (Y/n) knowing that it was now or never, she turning and running back through the trees, screaming out one word as she tried to get back to the safety of the cottage. Hoping beyond hope that he would hear her.

"BEORN...........!"
