Denise had tears in her eyes as she peeled a carrot slicing it when she was done into sticks. She placed the sticks into a container before setting them down in the bag. She continued to make a sandwich for her son. It was his first day at kindergarten and she wasn't looking forward to saying goodbye to him for the first time. Denise had been a stay at home mom for both her boys, Kevin was now at school but it was Joe's turn to leave her side for the day. It was hard for her to let go. She cracked as smile when her second middle son ran in giving her a hug.

"You look handsome Joe." Denise complimented as he pulled away from her.

"Why are you crying mommy?" Joe inquired a worried expression on her face, he didn't like his mom upset. He was a momma's boy, everyone had complimented on that.

"I'm just happy that your finally a big boy sweetie, I'm not upset. My baby is just leaving for the day." Denise assured him kissing his head gently.

"I'm not a baby mommy, Nick is a baby." Joe pouted making Denise laugh zipping the bag up for his lunch after the sandwich was made handing him the bag which had Barney on the front. It was his favourite show on TV.

"Nick is a baby, nearly two years old!" Denise exclaimed.

"Then baby sister?" He questioned, Denise just laughed again shaking her head.

"I have my hands full enough with you boys, come on we best be going." Denise encouraged the two of them wondering into the living room where they saw Kevin sat on the floor ready for school himself playing with his youngest brother. Nick ran to his mom when she appeared in the doorway Denise lifting him up.

Denise dropped Kevin off at school before walking across the road to the kindergarten where she hadn't been since Kevin was Joe's age. She had Nick on her hip as he played with the lose strands of hair to amuse himself until they got home. Denise knew it wasn't going to be completely quiet around the house with Nick being there but Joe did cause most of the noise.

"Hello I'm Nicola, the kindergarten teacher here," She introduced shaking Denise's hand as she introduced them and Joe knowing that he was the boy how would be starting. "Is this your little brother Joe?"

"Yeah his name is Nick! He's a pest daddy says." He grins, Denise smiled setting Nick on the ground but in her eyesight. She gave Joe a tight hug kissing his hair gently.

"You'll be just fine here Joseph, be good okay." Denise pulled away from her son grabbing Nick gently before he ran off. Joe nodded his head.

"Of course mommy." He smiled kissing Nick's cheek making the boy squeal.

"Come on then Joe let's get you settled," Nicola stated taking his hand. "Wave to mommy!" She encouraged Joe turning around waving to his mom before taking as seat where Nicola had told him. He watched his mother leaving being a little emotional. She knew that he was very outgoing and wouldn't cause a fuss about leaving her.

"This is Demi, why don't you tell each other something about yourselves." She suggested before walking away to greet another woman who had a crying girl in her arms. She even admitted Joe's goodbye was about as best as it could get.

"Hi I'm Joe!" Joe greeted.

"I'm Demi!" Demi greeted back smiling at him.

"I want to play with all the toys here!" Demi smiled at him knowing that she too wanted to play with all the toys here.

"Me too!" She grinned. That was only the start of a friendship which would form into a close one by the end of the week.
