Twenty Seven

"You would not believe how happy I am Demi." Joe expressed Demi smiling as she hugged her best friend. She was relieved as well that it had worked, it was a lot of pressure on her and if it hadn't worked she didn't know how she would tell them that is hadn't. It was weird to think she had her best friend's baby already growing inside her more and more every day. Her life was now revolved around making sure that she stayed healthy.

"I'm happy too it worked." Demi answered as she pulled away from him.

"I don't know how we'll ever be able to thank you for this, I hope your body isn't ruined too much." Joe grinned only getting a smack from Demi.

"Alright Mr Penis, your job is easy!" Demi lectured. "But this isn't something I'm doing for myself, it's for you and I'm honoured to be the one who will give you and Emily a baby."

"Well I have to get to work, those chefs will be happy I'm in a good mood." Demi laughed but smile when he kissed her cheek then leaning down kissing her flat stomach. He said goodbye one last time before he left with his bag. Demi made her way into the living room again seeing that Emily was already doing some grading having come straight home after school so they could take the test before Joe had to go to work.

"I'm going to leave now, I'll see you soon." Demi spoke Emily looking up at her.

"You don't have to leave, I can multitask." She bargained Demi laughing slightly but shook her head, it's not that she didn't want to stay, she just wanted to have some time to herself.

"I'm going to head to the gym, I'm going to need to stay fit." Demi explained Emily nodding her head gently, she was thankful Demi was going to do everything she could to make sure the baby was safe before and after they are born. She'd stay fit as much as she could, take all the doctors medication and advice. She didn't want to risk losing the baby Joe and Emily desperately wanted.

"Maybe we can go swimming together when your further along?" Emily suggested Demi giving her a warm smile.

"That sounds great, we'll arrange it closer to the time. I'll see you tomorrow probably." They said their goodbyes before Demi left the house climbing into her car.

Demi was running on the treadmill wiping the sweat from her forehead every so often, she knew the further she got through the pregnancy she wouldn't be able to do certain activities but swimming was meant to be good for the pregnancy so he would take Emily's offer up on that and the two of them going swimming a little more. Demi hoped off the treadmill when she thought she had done enough taking huge gulps of water from her water bottle.

"You look motivated." She heard a voice looking at the side seeing a young woman.

"Well you know you have to stay fit don't you." She replied screwing the lid on her water bottle that was now empty thanking the woman when she handed her another bottle.

"I'm Willa." She introduced.

"Demi." She answered smiling as she shook her hand.

"Are you new around here? I haven't noticed you here before."

"No and yes, I lived here but then I moved away to care for my sick Gran. I just moved back." Demi explained Willa nodding her head gently.

"Do you want to hit the shower and go for something to eat?" Willa questioned Demi giving her a warm smile.

"Sounds like fun, meet outside changing room." They both agreed before separating. Demi knew she needed some female company, she had only ever had Joe as her close friend and as much as she loved him it would be nice to have a female to talk to. She saw herself becoming close to Emily but you could never have too many friends.
