"This is your fault!" Joe screamed as he entered his girlfriend's room again. Emily looked up at him confused having no idea what he was talking about. "You changed my alarm on my phone so I'd miss Demi on purpose!" Emily got up from the bed standing at the edge not moving any closer to him. She could see that he had been crying.
"Do you really think I would do that Joe?" Emily questioned calmly, she had guessed he had missed her and he was just hurting over that fact. She brought him down in her arms as he begun to sob again. Joe wrapped his arms back around her.
"I'm sorry." He mumbled.
"It's okay Joe, I get it. Your best friend is gone and you didn't get to say goodbye but it isn't the end of the world, call her or something." Emily suggested pulling away from him taking both of his hands in hers only letting go to wipe a couple of the tears that had escaped his eyes even though the was trying his best to hold him back. He'll admit he was a sensitive person.
"She won't answer my calls, she hates me." Joe mumbled.
"I'm sure she doesn't, just give her some space and everything will be back to normal." Emily advised leaning up kissing him gently smiling through the kiss as he kissed back.
Joe spend a while with Emily before heading back home ready to face his family. He knew they would want some answers. He still felt back for Emily having blamed her, she was his girlfriend and he should have been able to trust her. He entered his house still feeling a bit down, he kicked his shoes off before making his way into the living room seeing his mother and two of his brothers, he knew his father took Frankie to baseball practice at this time.
"I know what happened and I don't need to be reminded." Joe warned before slumping on the spare chair slouching down.
"What happened?" Denise questioned.
"I-I slept through my alarm, I set it at six planning to come straight home, have some breakfast then walk down with you but I didn't wake up until twenty five past. I tried to get here but the car was already gone when I got here," Joe spoke sighing at the end. "She won't answer my calls now, does she hate me?"
"Just the opposite." Nick mumbled getting a thump from his oldest brother but Joe hadn't heard what he had said thankfully.
"She was pretty upset when they had to leave Joe but give her some space and then she will answer your calls." Kevin explained Joe nodding his head. He knew he screwed up, he wanted to see his best friend before she left but instead he upset her.
Demi woke up from her nap a couple of hours later cracking a smile when she looked out the window seeing that they were close to home. She couldn't wait to see her Gran again. Her smile dropped when she remembered that Joe hadn't come down to say goodbye to her. He had broke some promises to her in their relationship but she was sure he was going to be here.
"Hey sweetie how are you feeling?" Dianna questioned once she looked behind her seeing that Demi was awake now. She had practically cried herself to sleep.
"Depressed." She mumbled as she checked her phone seeing many missed calls from Joe and texts saying that he was sorry. She became more upset when she saw the reason why, he had slept at Emily's house even though her knew he was going to be here the next morning.
"You should call him back." Eddie stated.
"I-I don't think I could forgive him for this." She admitted looking down at the floor of the car. She'd like to forgive him but she didn't know if she could.
He was the one person she wanted there to say goodbye to her and he wasn't.
