Twenty Three

Joe sighed shaking his head gently. As much as he'd like to admit to himself that Demi carrying their baby for her to hand over for Emily to be a mom would be a good idea he didn't know if he could ask Demi to do that for them. He hadn't stopped thinking about it though, having a baby with Demi and not Emily. It seemed weird.

"I can't ask you to do that Demi, like I said at the food court..." Joe begun but Demi soon cut him off again the two of them beginning to hear Emily coming down the stairs.

"You're not asking me, I'm offering." Demi urged.

"Demi your body will change during and after, you'll be around the child all the time watching Emily be a mother to him or her. Do you realise how hard that will be?" Joe spoke in a hushed tone as Emily got closer, he didn't want to give her any false hope that in the same day they had found out they couldn't have a baby of their own they had found someone who would be willing to carry a baby for them. A baby which biologically will be half theirs but half Joe's. She was so upset and didn't want to do anything else to upset her.

"I know how it works Joe and I'm sure." Demi answered taking another sip as Emily entered the room. Demi gave her a warm smile Emily cracking a small smile as she sat down next to Joe who took her hand tangling their fingers together.

"What were you talking about?" She inquired Joe and Demi looking between one another, Demi nodded her head gently telling him that she was sure.

"Um Demi has offered to carry a baby for us." Joe revealed Emily looking over at Demi.

"W-What?" She questioned.

"I know how much it means to you and Joe that you have a baby and as soon as possible, I was there when you went through the miscarriage when we were seventeen and I want to do this for you guys. Everyone has been trying to talk me out of it but I'm sure it's what I want to do." Demi insisted looking between the couple in front of her.

"T-Thank you." Emily choked getting up sharing a hug with Demi. Joe sighed getting up too sharing a hug with Demi.

"If you're sure." He breathed in her ear.

"I am Joe." Demi pulled back looking into his eyes as he looked back. He could tell she was sure, he just didn't know if she knew what she would be coming up against.

Joe served dinner soon the three of them having two courses before they made their way back into the living room with their glasses of Wine. Emily had cheered up a bit knowing what Demi was going to be doing for her and her soon to be husband. She couldn't thank her enough, a mother is what she's always wanted to be.

"You do know you won't be able to start work straight away if you do this for us?" Joe questioned taking a cracker with cheese on it from the plate before sitting back on the couch.

"I know, it just seems like the best time to do it to be honest. I won't be too far along so I can still fit into a dress for your wedding." Demi stated.

"Our parents are going to be so happy." Emily grinned.

"I just hope it works," Demi breathed. "It costs a lot just for one try, if it doesn't work then do you have enough money to try again?"

"We might have to save up unless we sell the house which wouldn't be the best idea," Joe laughed along with them. "We could always do it the old fashioned way, it's free." Joe winked laughing again when he got a smack from Emily.

"I'd shut up if you still want this wedding." Demi giggled as Emily shook her head at the man she loved. She was just relived that she would get a baby hopefully by the end of next year, she wouldn't be able to thank Demi enough for what she was doing for the two of them but Demi seemed sure that this is what she wanted to do.
