Sixty Six

"What did you do with him?" Joe questioned looking down at the floor. That was the best reply Demi could have imagined. She had gone through this scene over and over again in her mind and she never imagined him not screaming at her or not storming out of the room in tears. There was still time but either way she didn't want that to happen.

"All the way, I'm sorry Joe." Demi mumbled but she didn't expect him to stay, she didn't deserve to have them and she admitted that.

"It's okay Demi." Joe answered turning around looking at her, she soon looked back up at him shocked. He could tell she was.

"What?" She questioned.

"It's my fault more than yours, I didn't realise that you felt so lonely with me being at work, of course you were going to go out and get some company." Joe replied.

"Why are you so calm about this? I cheated on you with another guy!" Demi exclaimed but Joe shushed her bringing her down in his arms. Demi sighed wrapping her arms back around him. Now she didn't understand why he was acting like he was. Joe pulled away from her leaning down kissing her lips gently Demi kissing back feeling the tears leak from her eyes. Joe pulled away from her but stayed close by Demi able to feel his breath on her lips.

"I love you." He whispered.

"I love you too which is why I don't understand why you're so calm about this." Demi pulled away from him completely Joe taking her hands.

"Because I love you so much and we're gonna work through this, I'm going to put this restaurant on hold then take less ours at work so we can go out together but also spend some time with the kids," Joe stated kissing her gently again before standing up. "Go have a bath, I'll take care of the kids." With that he left the room leaving Demi dazed. If the situation switched round and Demi was in Joe's shoes she knew she would flip out and scream at him yet he was calm and even blamed himself for it. She didn't understand at all.

Joe wondered into the living room sitting back down with the kids watching the end of Frozen with them. Elsie climbed onto his lap Joe smiling as he kissed her hair gently. He couldn't help but smile as they all sung along to the movie knowing every word to it but as long as they were happy he didn't care. The film soon finished Elsie moving from his lap so he could switch it off, the disc had been played a lot of times.

"What do you want to do now?" Joe questioned turning to his three children sat on the couch who were starting to look bored already.

"Daddy can we bake cookies?" Elliot questioned.

"Sure, I think we have everything in," Joe begun entering the kitchen soon coming back. "Let's go wash hands and we'll start."

Demi entered the kitchen after spending some time in her room wrapping her mind around how Joe had reacted but she couldn't come up with any reasons why but she couldn't help but smile as she saw her three children all kneeled up on the kitchen table chairs seeing them all baking with their dad who was washing up.

"What's going on here?" Demi cooed kissing their heads.

"Us making cookies with daddy." Evie replied pulling her hands out the bowl licking them giggling when Joe turned around giving her a stern look.

"You cheeky girl, go wash your hands." Joe demanded chuckling as she ran away Demi soon following to help her.
