Emily had taken the morning off work so she could go with Joe and Demi to the hospital to talk about what would be happening. They needed to make sure Demi was a suitable person to carry their baby for them if not they would have to wait even longer. She would be going back to work afterwards to her class in seventh grade. She let go of Joe's hand as he held the door open for her climbing in the car Joe shutting the door behind him jogging over to the other side climbing in. With Joe being a head chef and Emily being a teacher they had a healthy income coming in which is why they had been trying for a baby for at least a year now if not longer. They knew they should have checked if their bodies were working properly before now.
"I still can't believe Demi is doing this for us." Emily breathed.
"I know but she seems certain that it's what she wants to do, I did try and convince her not to but there's no not telling that woman to do anything. She's only just come back into my life and she's changing it heavily." Joe answered.
"I just hope we can have a relationship, I did try at school but like you said she was a shy girl and didn't want any other friends but you. I always thought maybe she had a crush on you." Emily admitted as Joe pulled out of the drive and down the street.
"Demi having a crush on me? No way. She's a beautiful woman, she deserves better than me." Joe insisted shaking his head gently.
"Why do you think you're not good enough for her?" Emily questioned curious Joe sighing having to think of the way to word it.
"I think our families always saw us together and though maybe one day a relationship would start up. I think it's why my parents weren't completely on board with me dating you at first but the more I think about it Demi deserves someone else and not her best friend." Emily always saw Demi as the one person who could possibly take Joe from her even when they were kids, she had no idea Joe felt how he did about the whole situation of them dating. She'll admit she was afraid of bringing home a baby which is biologically theirs and not from her and Joe.
Demi exited the hospital room having changed back from the hospital gown into her normal clothes sitting down next to Joe. She prayed that she'd be able to carry a baby for Emily and Joe, she didn't think she had any feelings for Joe anymore otherwise she knew she wouldn't be able to do this for them. She still found it hard to believe she could be carrying Joe's baby.
"They just need to run over a couple of things then they're going to call us through and talk about it." Demi stated the two of them nodding their heads Joe squeezing Demi's hand.
"Joe and I have decided if this does happen we want you to at least be god mother." Emily stated Demi smiling slightly.
"Thank you." Demi hugged Joe as he wrapped his arm around her.
"And you can help with a name? We want you to be as involved with the baby as you want." Joe answered chuckling as Demi became overwhelmed.
"You guys are being so nice!" Demi exclaimed slapping Joe's chest.
"Us being nice? Surely that title is taken by you." Demi laughed the three of them engaging into a conversation until they were called through into the doctor's office about half an hour later. They all sat down Joe being in the middle holding onto both their hands. It was the moment that they would know whether Demi was well enough for her to be able to carry a baby and for it to work effectively without any health problems to come along with the pregnancy.
"Demi is perfect for the job if you still want to do this." The doctor stated the couple turning to Demi who nodded her head gently.
"I'm sure." She insisted but within a couple of hours it was too late for her to change her mind. She had already had the procedure done.
